Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, most of the people rely on restaurants and convenience foods because it saves time. In modern era, both men and women are working, so they have less time to cook and prepare their food. These convenience or pacakaged foods are already partially cooked and just need a little bit of cooking so in this way they saves alot of time. Another advantage is that the taste of such foods is good and someone who are not really fond of cooking or who doesn't know how to cook, these foods are heaven to them as they tastes scrumptious as well as they are prepared instantly. One of my friend lives abroad and she along with her husband works full time to manage the expenses as their family is in initial phases of settling abroad. She was worried that how will she manage work and food together. She then started using packagaed meals to feed her family and her family also enjoyed eaing those delicious foods. In this way she managed her time.
One of the disadvantage of relying on convenience food is that they contain high amount of processed chemicals which is harmful for human body. As many of these packagaed foods have high sodium content which might cause high blood pressure and they also have high sugar levels which might cause obesity, dibaetes and cardiovascular diseases. One of the example is that my father used to eat restaurant meals alot due to his busy work schedule and tours. Recently he was dianosed with high blood pressure. We all got worried. The doctor diagnosed that his eating patterns of eating out daily was the cause of high blood pressure as these restaurnat meals are made up of processed foods which conatin high sodium content.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and give relevant reasons: convenience and appealing taste are presented as advantages, while health risks form the disadvantage. The examples about your friend managing work and meals, and your father’s high blood pressure, help make the discussion concrete. However, the advantages are developed more fully than the disadvantages, which mainly focus on processed ingredients and illness. The claim that packaged foods contain “processed chemicals” is broad and would be clearer if you explained what nutritional features are concerning. Your conclusion is also implicit rather than clearly summarising the overall trade-off. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a precise explanation and finish with a brief concluding judgement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it discusses advantages first and then disadvantages, with a relevant personal example in each section. This clear progression makes the main argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Another advantage,” “One of the disadvantage,” and “In this way” to signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, the links feel repetitive or mechanical, and the first paragraph moves from general convenience to taste and then to a long personal example without clearly separating the points. The reference in “these foods” is understandable but could be more precise. A clearer paragraph structure, with one central idea developed at a time and a concise conclusion, would make the organisation more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic and convey specific health effects, including “high sodium content,” “high blood pressure,” and “cardiovascular diseases.” Words such as “scrumptious” show an attempt to use less common vocabulary, although the informal, enthusiastic tone is not always suited to this essay. Several spelling errors—such as “pacakaged,” “dibaetes,” and “restaurnat”—are noticeable, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “processed chemicals” and “manage the expenses.” Repetition of “foods,” “time,” and “high” also limits variety. Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning more precise without requiring unnecessarily elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “so,” and “as,” and most of the message remains clear. However, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “it saves time” does not agree with the plural subject “convenience foods,” while “they saves” has the same agreement problem. In “someone who are not really fond,” the verb should agree with “someone,” and “One of the disadvantage” needs a plural noun. The sentence beginning “Another advantage is that…” also becomes awkwardly joined to the following clause. Review subject–verb agreement and practise breaking long sentences into well-controlled clauses while retaining a mix of structures.
