Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both sides of the question: convenience and time-saving are presented as advantages, while health problems and obesity are disadvantages. Your opinion is also stated at the end, where you recommend reducing restaurant food. However, the ideas are only briefly explained, and examples are not developed enough to show how these effects occur. The conclusion introduces the idea of encouraging children but does not clearly summarise the discussion. The response is also 22 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to explain and support your points. To strengthen the response, develop each main idea with a specific example and make your position consistent and clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, with an opening, a paragraph about advantages, a paragraph about disadvantages, and a final opinion. Linking expressions such as “To commence with” and “However” help signal the change between the two sides. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: several points about time, work, family, and exercise are placed together without explaining their connections. Repetition, including repeated references to restaurant food and health effects, also interrupts the flow. Some sentences are difficult to connect to the surrounding ideas, particularly the final sentence of the disadvantages paragraph. Use clearer topic sentences, group related points, and add simple explanations or examples to guide the reader from one idea to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “frozen food,” “packaged,” “junk food,” “health,” and “physical exercise.” These words show that you can communicate the main subject and identify relevant effects. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling, word-form, and collocation errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “obacity,” “soultaions,” and “Restaurants food,” as well as the repeated use of “people” and “food.” Aim to learn accurate topic phrases and use them in context, such as “ready-made meals,” “save time,” and “increase the risk of obesity.” Checking spelling and choosing natural word combinations will make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to communicate several different ideas and use a few linking structures, but most sentences rely on very simple patterns, and grammatical errors are frequent enough to make parts difficult to understand. For example, “people mostly like a restaurants food” has problems with articles and sentence structure, while “people all day work on office and not time a cook food” lacks a clear verb pattern and uses incorrect prepositions. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “this food a effect on health and increase the obacity.” Practise building complete subject–verb sentences, then combine related ideas using “because,” “so,” or “which.” Careful editing for articles, verb forms, and punctuation would improve clarity.
