Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 131 words. This failure to meet the length requirement severely limits the development of ideas. While the essay introduces the topic and mentions reasons for car reliance, the discussion is incomplete and cuts off abruptly. The prompt asks for both the ways reliance affects our lives and whether these effects are positive or negative, but the response fails to provide a balanced or fully developed argument. Because the response is unfinished and lacks the necessary depth to address all parts of the task, it cannot progress beyond a band 5 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay attempts to use paragraphing and some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'In other words'. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'which are discussed in the upcoming paragraphs', which is redundant given the brevity of the response. The logical flow is hindered by the abrupt ending, making the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are fully expanded before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'thesedays' (spelling error), 'getting advance' (incorrect collocation), and 'pupil' (incorrect usage for 'people'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple descriptors. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct collocations, such as 'advancing' instead of 'getting advance' and 'commuters' instead of 'pupil'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'public transportation have numbers of stops' (should be 'has a number of stops') and 'this trend put negative effect' (should be 'puts a negative effect'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, the frequent errors in basic grammar and word order limit the score. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would significantly improve your accuracy.
