Student answer (Band 6.5)

In concurrent times, usage of private transport has been reaching to extended level. This trend has been adopted due social status, make the commute easy ,etc. However this phenomenon impact on pollutions concerns, creates road chaos and many more. I largely agree that this development has various drawbacks than the merits, which will be elucidated in the below paragraphs.

To commence with, before usage of the own transport is emission it release and the way it impact the society including their own well-being. Because this practice might significantly impact the people and surrounding due to traffic problems and release immense number of smoke. Consequently, these problems creates road accidents and road chaos to other public. Not to forget, these inconvenience situations might also jeopardise the local health in terms of facing breathing issues, Asthma and other illnesses.

The reason why some personnel share their negative viewpoint towards the relying in public transport is, people will turn lazy to walk since they have own transport to use for the shorter distance as well. Although, this practice might render comfortable and flexible driving experience, but this also increase the unnecessary expenses cost to the owner and make one tired to drive for the longer distances.

Moreover, this endeavour will diminish the connecting more social relationships. For example, various surveys shared the data and explained that people who transit via public transports are more likely to increase the social connections than the people who use the private.

To conclude, although, having own vehicle might bring various advantages like convenient and easy travel. I personally affirm that, this trend might creates umpteen environmental problems and also ones health. Hence, people should limit the usage of the private vehicles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the effects of car reliance and expressing a clear position that the negative impacts outweigh the benefits. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'social relationships' is mentioned but lacks specific, well-explained examples to fully support the argument. While the position is consistent throughout, some arguments, such as the link between car usage and laziness, are stated rather than fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a clear, logical explanation or a more detailed example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Consequently', and 'Moreover'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the transition 'before usage of the own transport is emission it release'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes the flow of ideas feel slightly disjointed in places. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would help the essay achieve a more natural and sophisticated progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'elucidated', 'jeopardise', and 'umpteen'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'usage of private transport has been reaching to extended level' and 'unnecessary expenses cost'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. Focusing on natural collocations and refining word choice will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage ('the own transport'), subject-verb agreement ('these problems creates'), and sentence construction ('before usage of the own transport is emission it release'). While these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence structure, proofreading for subject-verb agreement, and ensuring the correct use of articles and prepositions.
