Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, numerous people are mainly dependent on personal cars as a mode of transport through out the world. This essay will explain the effects of this trend and discuss whether this has positive or negative effects.
There are several effects of chosing private vehicles on the way we live. the main effect is that people do not have to rely on the poorly managed or fixed routine public transport. To understand, a personal car provides freedom to travel or to commute to places. Another effect is that it can provide a sense of achievement and superioity among socities. For example, cars have become an image of people's social satus, which is often believed that having an expensive car gives a sense of superiority among friends and neighbours.
I personaly believe that this trend has positive effects, as 'it helps car owners to travel and visit any place they want' and 'giving a sense of achievement and power among their friends and relatives can provide motivation to grow'. For example, when I bought my first car at the age of 19 allowed me to , as I was tired to using a bus to commute to work as it used to get late quite often.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 204 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—the effects of car reliance and whether these are positive or negative—the arguments are underdeveloped. The points regarding 'social status' and 'freedom' are introduced but lack sufficient depth or illustrative detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. To improve, you must expand your explanations and provide more comprehensive examples to reach the required length and depth of analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition 'To understand' is unnatural in this context. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the lack of length prevents the development of more sophisticated linking between paragraphs. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall flow would benefit from a wider range of cohesive markers to connect sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'commute' and 'social status', but there are also instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'superioity among socities' (spelling error) and 'tired to using a bus' (incorrect preposition). The vocabulary is generally repetitive, and there is little attempt to use less common or idiomatic language. Focusing on more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'chosing' (spelling), 'I personaly believe' (spelling), and the sentence 'when I bought my first car at the age of 19 allowed me to...' which is grammatically incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization at the start of sentences. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical and mechanical errors.
