Nowadays, a heavy reliance on private cars has been soaring rapidly. This trend is definitely causing more negative than positive, the reason being increased carbon emissons and depleting natural resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the negative effects outweigh the positive ones. The ideas regarding environmental impact and resource depletion are relevant and supported with explanations. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the positive aspects are mentioned very briefly in a single paragraph, which lacks the depth of the negative arguments. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from a more balanced exploration of the 'positive' side to fully meet the criteria for a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of analysis could be more consistent across all points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the topic. The use of cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'However' helps to guide the reader through the argument. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the phrase 'the days are not far when we totally run out of this', which lacks a clear antecedent for 'this'. Despite these minor issues, the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall structure is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, such as 'detrimental', 'plummeted', and 'swiftly'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'More number of cars', 'omit harmful chemical gases' (should be 'emit'), and 'possess more threat' (should be 'pose'). These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision in lexical control. Expanding the range of collocations and refining word choice would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'In a recent studies', 'the government extract'). Additionally, there are issues with word forms, such as 'detrimental affect' (should be 'effect'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To reach a higher band, the writer should focus on increasing the accuracy of complex structures and proofreading for basic grammatical slips.
