Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is true that in many parts of the world, people rely on private cars for transportation. Gradually, the number of usage of private transportation has increased through-out the past decades.
On the one hand, relying on private cars do have pros and cons on how it affect the lifestyle of people. Some believe that travelling in public transport is not appropriate, as they have to take care of their personal belongings from the busy crowd. Another vital point for public transport is its frequency. Due to heavy traffics, cars and bikes can pass easily, whereas, a huge bus has to tackle the traffic. Another significant disadvantage of using private cars is that it has increased the pollution in the areas like the centre of the city. Mainly, it is due to the traffic of cars in the downtown of the city. This pollution has also taken the villages and other towns surrounding the city under its effect. As a result, the nature is getting affected by it and this has reduced the quality of people's life.
On the other hand, majority of the people use their private car as a reason for safety and comfort. Using a private vehicle gives you more accessiblity compare to public transport. Everyone can enjoy their private life, while being out in the city. However, using a private vehicle for simple reason should be stopped. To cite an example, many people use their private vehicle in order to travel downtown, which I oppose it. Giving an easy reason, traveling in public transport while going to downtown to enjoy is more suitable considering the traffic.
To give my opinion, I would seperate the days of the week between using the public transport and my private vehicle. This way I will help in the reduction of pollution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the effects of private car reliance and providing an opinion on whether these effects are positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While you mention safety and comfort as benefits, the argument regarding the negative impacts, such as pollution and traffic, is more clearly articulated. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed reasoning or specific examples to reach a higher level of depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. For instance, the shift from discussing public transport to pollution in the first body paragraph is a bit abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'using a private vehicle for simple reason should be stopped', where the antecedent is vague. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accessibility', 'transportation', and 'reduction'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'number of usage' (should be 'frequency of use') and 'tackle the traffic' (which is slightly informal). Some phrases are repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the sophistication required for a higher band. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'relying on private cars do have' (subject-verb agreement error), 'compare to' (should be 'compared to'), and 'I oppose it' (redundant pronoun). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence construction, such as 'Due to heavy traffics, cars and bikes can pass easily, whereas, a huge bus has to tackle the traffic.' Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately will help you achieve a higher score.
