Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's modern world, relying on cars for transportation has become a serious and debated topic. There are numerous reasons for relying on private cars, which affect our lifestyle. This essay intends to discuss the effects and why it will be a negative trend.
The first and foremost reason is comfort and flexibility. To explain it more, private cars have more comfortable seating as compared to public transport and also take less time to travel from one place to another because people do not need to wait for long hours for travelling as in public transport. As a result, the problem of traffic congestion arises, which also leads to the production of more carbon emissions. Due to this, people face a lot of problems related to their health. For example, nowadays, the use of cars for personal use has become a reason for more accidents on roads compared to the past, due to the use of public transportation. Hence, a lot of people rely on cars, which affects our lives negatively now.
Another reason is the importance of time. To be more precise, travelling by personal cars saves a lot of time because people can easily arrive at their destination in less time than taking buses. Even they get personal space in cars. As a result, their money is wasted because travelling by private cars is more expensive, which becomes this negative trend because of their own comfort; they spend a lot of money, which they may use in emergencies. Hence, private cars are creats more expenses than public modes of transportation.
In conclusion, after the discussion, it becomes quite clear that depending on private cars has an effect on our daily lives in different ways, such as traffic congestion and so on. I opine that it is a negative trend because it creates a lot of problems related to health and the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the effects of car reliance and taking a clear position that it is a negative trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the second paragraph mentions 'comfort and flexibility' but immediately pivots to traffic and health, which are separate issues. The arguments regarding the negative impacts (health, environment, and cost) are relevant but could be more deeply explored with more specific examples rather than general statements. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, keeping it at a mid-level band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion', which help the reader follow the progression. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced, such as 'To explain it more' or 'To be more precise'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, the link between 'accidents' and 'public transportation' is confusingly phrased. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the flow between sentences could be more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'traffic congestion' and 'carbon emissions'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple phrasing. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'creats more expenses' (grammatical error aside) or 'a serious and debated topic'. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'private cars are creats more expenses', 'due to the use of public transportation' (which contradicts the intended meaning), and 'as in public transport'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with sentence construction. The student demonstrates an ability to form complex sentences, but the control over these structures is inconsistent, leading to errors that prevent a higher score.
