Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both positive and negative effects of private car reliance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'emergency situations' is a good start but lacks depth. The argument regarding physical fitness is relevant but could be expanded with more specific consequences. The position is clear, but the overall response would benefit from more detailed supporting evidence and a more nuanced exploration of the 'positive vs. negative' balance to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Positive side of...', 'Drawbacks of...'). There are also issues with referencing and flow; for instance, the transition between the benefits of private transport and the environmental drawbacks is abrupt. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the writing feel somewhat disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'submit them in hospital' instead of 'take them to the hospital' and 'relay' used instead of 'rely'. The range is limited, relying on basic descriptors like 'positive side' and 'drawbacks'. To improve, you should focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to transportation and environmental impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Most number of the people' (incorrect quantifier usage), 'where as' (should be 'whereas'), and 'it helps in being accessible to any emergency situations' (awkward phrasing). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
