Student answer (Band 5.0)
To start with in this fast and furious life there are many people that rely on their cars there are plenty of the reason for this and upcoming paragraph i will elaborate some of the reasons and its effect that its positive or negative.
First for most reason is the time consuming on public transportation with lots of noise. In that if you're working professional with good income and you need to be work and exact time that the own car would be very strong use. For an example the person is working in hospital and there is and emergency and that person have a own car so that will very easy to go through and that time not to wait for the public transport. So into going that if you working in the health or some other department that have be needed on particular time then people should rely on the private cars.
Apart from this its affect so many ways to we live for instance its harmful for the environment due lots of carbon emission also its caused accidents in added its causing traffic jam situation and so on so in lively hood its caused so much problems and the harm to environment. for example the 20 person of group are going same place but they use own cars In private cars only four to five people can sit and they needed 4 cars instead using public transport like bus only needed one and form they can save so much money and less co2 emission and if not then this caused negative effect on the earth and other surroundings.
To end with as per my perspective people should avoid rely on the private cars if they are not going for importance work instead of people use public transportation as much as they can for the less environmental damage and easy positive air.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the ways reliance on cars affects our lives and whether these effects are positive or negative. However, the development is inconsistent. While the idea of time-saving for professionals is relevant, the explanation is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The discussion on negative environmental impacts is clearer, but the argument could be strengthened with more sophisticated reasoning. The position is generally clear, but the overall structure of the argument feels slightly rushed, and some points, such as the '20 person of group' example, are expressed in a way that limits the clarity of the intended point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'To start with' and 'So into going that' are used in a way that does not effectively link ideas. The use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or misused, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader smoothly through the argument. Referencing is sometimes unclear, which hinders the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'strong use' instead of 'advantage' or 'easy positive air' instead of 'cleaner air'. The student relies on basic, everyday language and struggles to express more complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the presence of inaccurate word forms prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to transportation and the environment.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('it's caused accidents'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty and lead to a loss of clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which indicates that the student is currently struggling with basic grammatical control, limiting the range and accuracy of the writing.
