Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the ways in which reliance on cars affects life and the evaluation of these effects. However, the development is limited. While you mention traffic and environmental damage, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'privacy' is mentioned but not fully explored. To improve, ensure each body paragraph provides a clear, extended explanation with a specific example that directly links back to the prompt's question about how our way of life is altered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To illustrates' and 'Despite the fact' (used incorrectly as a sentence starter) disrupt the flow. Furthermore, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'environmental damaged' instead of 'environmental damage' and 'gas production is one of the situation'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with word forms (e.g., 'affectly' instead of 'negatively'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to environmental and social topics and pay closer attention to the correct grammatical form of the words you choose.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('One of the biggest transportation mode are cars'), article usage, and incorrect word forms ('affectly'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
