Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the trend of dependency on private vehicles for commuting is increasing. While this trend has enhanced the efficiency of work and the reduce the wasting time by public transportation. I believe that it is positive development because the people become independent and create a income source.

One major affects of the over reliance on the personal vehicle is, it conserves the cost and time which often held when using public vehicles. This is because a person can mitigate their expenses of bus and train fares, beside this monetary factor, the time of consuming by the buses can also avoid. For example, a person who need to commute from one city to another one usually takes more than an hour while through car, it takes only a few minutes to reach. In addition to this, it boosts the efficiency of a person to do various tasks such as attending doctor's appointment or buying groceries in one route which seems difficult by other modes of transportation.

I suppose this is advantageous development. It makes the people self-dependent to accomplish their responsibilites. A person can do his tasks by ownself by obtaining the required licenses and training. While it was difficult in the past times when people had to wait for longer hours only to take a bus. Secondly, a person can utilize their private cars for the purpose of earning such as car-pooling, uber, lift and doordash, there are a lot businesses who provide work has the cars. Thus, it assist a person to do self employed work.

In conclusion, private cars plays a crucial role in this fast paced environment and it is a postive development as individuals rely on their own resources for travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the effects of reliance on private cars and whether these are positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that cars 'conserve the cost' is not fully supported, as it ignores fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs. The argument regarding 'income sources' like Uber is relevant but could be more deeply explored. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack the depth and nuance required for a higher band, often relying on generalizations that are not entirely accurate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to this', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'beside this monetary factor, the time of consuming by the buses can also avoid'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the management of cohesion is not yet flexible enough for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'the time of consuming by the buses can also avoid' and 'doordash, there are a lot businesses who provide work has the cars'. The range is sufficient to convey the message, but the student struggles to use less common lexical items accurately. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'the reduce the wasting time', 'One major affects', and 'private cars plays'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb forms.
