Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that some people prefer to travel from one place to another by private transportation rather than public transportation according to me it is a negative effect.

The first and foremost thing is that when people use private vehicles instead of public transport it increases a pollution in a city due to citizens will faces many problems such as respiratory diseases and lungs problems as well as asthma due to bad air condition. For example: if there is a huge public transport running on the road, this vehicle would also creates a pollution such as smoke from a car silencer due to which the air get polluted.

Moreover, the second main reason is that if people will use their own vehicles the country will also go in lose because lot of petroleum will required for running vehicles whereas in public transport one bus can carry many passengers . For example: recently due to war some countries faces petroleum transportation issues due to which the prices of petroleum will also get increased.

To conclude, depending on own vehicle is a not a good thing because its creates pollution in the city as well as the country also faces lose because if all people will rely on own cars then the public transport will go in lose because no one will travel in public transport.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by identifying the negative effects of private car reliance, specifically pollution and economic impact. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which significantly limits the depth of development. The ideas are presented but lack sufficient supporting detail or nuanced exploration. For instance, the argument regarding economic loss is somewhat underdeveloped and repetitive. Because the response is under-length and the ideas are not fully extended, it does not meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'The first and foremost thing', 'Moreover, the second main reason'). The progression of ideas is clear, but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The concluding paragraph is quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the points made, instead repeating earlier phrasing. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph structure would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'go in lose' (should be 'suffer losses') and 'huge public transport' (which is imprecise). The repetition of words like 'pollution' and 'vehicles' indicates a limited range. To improve, you should focus on using more varied synonyms and collocations to express your ideas more naturally and precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it increases a pollution' (incorrect article usage), 'citizens will faces' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'depending on own vehicle is a not a good thing' (article and preposition errors). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and article usage is essential.
