Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern scenario, every person wants comfort at every level of life. These days, every person has their own car. People do not want to travel via public transportation, and it could be due to waiting for long hours for public transit. But it affects people's lives. They denounced some negative impacts of this on their daily life as well as on their health. In this essay, I will discuss some negative impacts of this in the forthcoming paragraphs.

Primarily, it is the main reason for traffic congestion. Every person wants to travel by their own car instead of travelling by public transit. As a result, thousands of cars run on the road and create traffic jams. Sometimes, accidents happen on the road, and it stuck the traffic. Therefore, people have to wait for a long time. Another is a shortage of fuel. Cars cannot run without fuel. Maximum use of fuel or oil will create a scarcity of fuel or oil for future generations.

Furthermore, private cars are also the main reason for the loss of public transit, and there is no doubt that public transit is one of the major sources of revenue for the government. If no one wants to travel by public transportation, public transit will not get profit. Moreover, private cars are also the main reason for increasing pollution. These days, pollution is the main concern. Thousands of cities are suffering from this problem, and the government also makes some special rules and regulations to eradicate this problem. for example, in Delhi, the government run the odd and even system there. Means, one day for odd-numbered cars and the second day for even-numbered cars.

Overall. it can be inferred that private cars create hundreds of issues. People know everything, but they still want their private cars. Public transportation has myriad benefits, such as fair fares, less pollution, and easy access. People denounced all the benefits. The regime should take important steps to aware the people and encourage them to use public transit instead of private vehicles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the ways in which reliance on private cars affects life and whether these effects are positive or negative. The position is clear throughout, focusing on negative impacts such as traffic congestion, fuel scarcity, and pollution. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and could be more deeply extended. For instance, the discussion on 'loss of public transit' is a good point, but it lacks a more detailed explanation of the broader societal consequences. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the development of arguments remains at a fairly general level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Primarily,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Moreover,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sentence 'They denounced some negative impacts,' where the pronoun 'they' does not clearly refer to a previously mentioned group. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion, though the flow between sentences could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'traffic congestion,' 'scarcity,' and 'eradicate.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'stuck the traffic' (should be 'causes traffic to get stuck') and 'take important steps to aware the people' (should be 'raise awareness among people'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and article usage, such as 'the government run the odd and even system' (should be 'runs') and 'one day for odd-numbered cars' (fragment). Punctuation is also inconsistent, notably the period used in 'Overall. it can be inferred.' Despite these errors, the communication of ideas is not significantly impeded, and the writer demonstrates an attempt to use a variety of structures.
