Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, individual are dependent on their private mode of transportation, such as car or bikes. This dependency and reliance on private transit system can have significant impacts on our lives, for instance, in term of punctuality, and prompt time-efficient accessibility. Overall, in my opinion this growing shift has negative effects in sense of increasing environmental adverse conditions due to smoke emissions and global warming resulting from this; moreover wasting substaintial amount of money on daily fossil fuel.
In recent years, the drastic shift from using public transport to individual commute in urban community has one of the most significant beneficial impact is that people do not have to wait in queue for mobilization. This perspective has given them an prompt time-efficient opportunity to travel from one place to other. For example, working-class is more prone to use their own vehicles to go to their workplace instead of a world-class public transportation systems are provided by authority. This trend is due to the increasing sense of time saving, and being punctual. This trend has given them a false perception of punctuality, in contrast to utilizing a standard public services.
Nevertheless, this shift has collectively a negative development not only individually, but also environmentally. This way of life is leading to waste of significant amount on gas, which can be drastic for a middle-class family to support their family, and fulfill their basic necessities. Furthermore, this extra expense of fossil fuels is leading to increasing carbon emission which is resulting to negative impact on environment. This has led to global warming and green house effect.
In conclusion, this trend has few individual positive short-term benefits in term of punctuality with prompt accessibility, on the other side, this is leading to further deterioration of our environment conditions, such as global warming, waste of unnecessary money, and green house effect. Therefore, this would be a negative development at the end.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the ways reliance on cars affects life and providing a clear stance that the effects are negative. The ideas are relevant, covering punctuality, financial burden, and environmental impact. However, the development of these points is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion where the same arguments are restated. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more nuanced examples or deeper analysis of the societal implications of car dependency rather than simply listing the negative outcomes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'nevertheless', and 'in conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'this trend has given them a false perception of punctuality, in contrast to utilizing a standard public services.' Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'deterioration' and 'mobilization'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'individual are dependent' (should be 'individuals'), 'in term of' (should be 'in terms of'), and 'green house effect' (should be 'greenhouse effect'). The spelling error 'substaintial' also detracts from the overall quality. Expanding the range of vocabulary and ensuring accurate usage would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('individual are dependent'), article usage ('a world-class public transportation systems'), and prepositional phrases ('resulting to negative impact'). Some sentences are slightly convoluted, which affects readability. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to focus on consistent accuracy in basic grammar and ensure that complex structures are formed without errors that impede the flow of the text.
