Student answer (Band 6.5)
Transportation plays an important role in everyone's life providing an ease on their everyday commute to work or school.
In this present era, private vehicles are more often then before because of abundant reasons which make pupils to use them everyday for travel. In this essay I am going to illustrate how reliance on private cars have effected on the way everyone resides and I believe it has more negative effects than positive
To begin with, the reliance that private cars affected the way pupils live is the ease to travel in a short period of time. Individuals can travel anywhere in a specific time duration without getting late from a specific task. Moreover, people can enjoy privacy in their private vehicle and enjoy their journey making it more memorable. For instance, there are several occasions such as exams, work and appointments where I have to arrive before time where public transit takes long enough because of certain stops and to reach early it is only possible by private vehicle. Moving further, having private vehicle gives you the freedom to plan your events without having any stress about public transits and luggage carrying.
The effects tends to be negative in my opinion of having abundant private cars as it creates a challenge for the individuals commuting with public transits. Furthermore, there is going to be more traffic and people going to face delays in their destination places. In addition, here will be air and noise pollution which would make hard for everyone including birds too. To examplify, the survey by scientist in 2023 in Delhi shows 45% of pollution is caused by vehicles and their gases which overall affects the whole system.
To conclude, private transit has benefits and it ease in time management but it comes with a lots of drawbacks in which it increases pollution, people getting fired because of getting late to work because of traffic and individuals getting sick because of air quality. So, transportation should be used equally and smart while taking care of whole community.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying both the ways reliance on cars affects life and providing a clear position that the effects are primarily negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of travel versus the environmental and social costs. However, some points are under-developed; for example, the claim that people get fired for being late due to traffic is a bit of a leap without further explanation. The essay maintains a consistent position throughout, though the supporting arguments could benefit from more depth to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the positive and negative aspects. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, and the reader can easily follow the writer's argument from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'public transit', 'commute', and 'air quality'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'abundant reasons' (instead of 'various reasons') and 'examplify' (a misspelling of 'exemplify'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score. The repetition of basic terms also limits the lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'private vehicles are more often then before' (should be 'than'), 'reliance that private cars affected' (awkward phrasing), and 'the effects tends to be' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and sentence construction is needed.
