Student answer (Band 5.5)

nowadays, transportation system is increasing in all world day by day .in numerous global people I dependent on personal car and it would be good and some negative impacts on world .there are many positive and negative effects below . firstly. there are lots of plenty merits of using and independent on private cars because if people have own cars they save your time for example, some people not living near bus stops they can easily take their car and go to any where and reach on time for instance schools , for work and due to this they will become punctual.moreover, private cars will more helpful in those people whose living in rural areas because in rural areas people don't have public transportation it would be helpful for those people and they can use for emergency and going for work. Also, there are some negative impacts rely on private cars because if people using more private cars then it will effects on economy for example many people are working in public transportation and if people using private cars then they will loose their job because people don't need public transportations furthermore, due to using private vehicle they become lazy and they will become unhealthy. in epilogue ,there are lots of positive effects on rely private car but rather then its has some negative effects according to me people can use private cars for important work and don't rely on private cars because if they go in public transportation then the will becom more confident and then people will not loose jobs .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the ways in which reliance on cars affects life and whether these effects are positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention time-saving and rural accessibility as positives, and economic impact and health as negatives, these points are not fully explored. The position is somewhat clear, but the conclusion is slightly contradictory, suggesting people should use cars for 'important work' while also advising against reliance. To improve, ensure each point is supported with more detailed explanation or a more specific, real-world example to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'in epilogue' is not a standard way to introduce a conclusion, and the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'it would be helpful for those people', where the antecedent is slightly distant. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') more naturally to connect your sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'lots of'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'independent on' instead of 'dependent on' and 'loose their job' instead of 'lose their job'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to transportation and urban planning to demonstrate a broader range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'transportation system is increasing'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or ending in incorrect places. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
