Student answer (Band 5.0)
From my perceptive , Many people rely on private cars for transportation . It has many benefits , we can go any where we want at any time when we have our own transport. Some people do not have enough money to purchase their transport. If some of them purchase than after that they can not meet the fuel expense . Many of the individuals use public transport for their daily use like going to an office or the university. It saves their time and money. And its a good option. In my opinion , reliance on private cars can affect our daily . Increase in number of vehicles on roads causes pollution , even accident rates are increasing day by day due to heavy traffic . It is affecting the pedistreans . It also disturbing country;s economy. Cars are becoming so expensive , Petrol rate is also increasing on daily basis . It is affecting the lives because many people cannot afford cars , bikes privately . They use public transport and cars on rent for their travel . To my knowledge , Relying on private cars can be positive as well as negative points. It is very useful for daily use , in case of any emergency you can use your private car abruptly rather than waiting for bus in long rows. However , It can cause economic problem and air pollution due to smoke of vehicles and blockage of roads effecting others lives as well .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the ways reliance on private cars affects our lives and whether these effects are positive or negative. However, there are significant limitations in development. The ideas are somewhat repetitive and brief, such as mentioning traffic, pollution, and convenience without sufficient expansion or detailed examples. Furthermore, the response is 249 words long, failing to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words by a single word. Because the length requirement is not met, a penalty must be applied to the Task Achievement score. Based on these factors, the response aligns best with Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text shows some organisation with basic cohesive devices and logical transitions like 'However' and 'In my opinion'. However, the paragraphing is erratic and fragmented, with many very short, single-sentence paragraphs that disrupt the flow of the essay. Progression is not always clear, and referencing can be repetitive. There is a lack of smooth transitions between ideas, making the overall structure feel disjointed and mechanical. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting words like 'transportation', 'transport', 'expense', and 'pedistreans' (which contains a spelling error). There are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'perceptive' instead of 'perspective', and punctuation spacing errors throughout the text. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate basic ideas, the frequent errors and restricted range prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 an appropriate score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures like 'If some of them purchase than after that they can not meet...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation (extra spaces before commas and periods), comma splices, and incorrect verb forms or prepositions. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, although meaning is generally retrievable. The grammatical control reflects the descriptors for Band 5.0.
