Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are plethra of Individuals around the world who prefer to use their own vehicle. This essay will explore the affects on our and also discuss pros and cons of prople relying on their cars, also provide someexamples to support both the advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with, our way of living is heavly depends on which mode we use for travelling because individuals using their personal cars tend to reach at their destinations more quickly than people using public transit as their mode of travelling. Furthermore, one of the greatest advantage of travelling in personal vehicle is that it saves great number of hours of travelling which otherwise go in vain because of frequent stops of public transport. For example, when i was in India i have to reach at my workplace at nine in the morning and there in no public transportation available at that time to use as well as it consumes 1 hour time to reach at my workplace so i used my own car to travel which saves me 40 minutes in travelling time.
However, in my opionion there is a great disadvantage which is that if everyone uses their own vehicle then it could affect or greatly reduce the jobs in the public transportation field which may further elevate the unemployment rate in the society. For example, when i was a kid ,bus arrives every 10-15 minutes at bus station in my hometown but in these days next bus arrive after more than 40 minutes because there is less demand of public transpotation in my hometown because of people bought their own vehicle to travel.
To conclude, there is no doubt that using personal vehicle saves great amount of time but using public transport is necessary as well as a balance in both is highly needed otherwise the rate of employment may decline in the public transpotation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by exploring how reliance on private cars affects our lives and discussing both positive and negative effects with supporting reasons. The student presents a clear position and supports ideas with personal examples, such as commuting in India and observations in their hometown. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. For example, the argument regarding public transportation job losses is introduced in the body and conclusion, but the reasoning remains basic. Overall, it satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0 as it addresses all parts of the prompt with relevant ideas, though some aspects are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion distinctly. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as "To begin with," "Furthermore," and "However." However, cohesion is occasionally faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition "also provide some examples to support both the advantages and disadvantages" in the introduction feels awkward and disrupts the flow. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and run-on sentence structures in the body paragraphs obscure the logical progression. Paragraphing is present and generally appropriate, but the internal logical flow requires better punctuation and signposting. This places the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "plethra" (spelled incorrectly as plethra), "elevate," and "unemployment rate." However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including "plethra" instead of plethora, "affects" instead of effects, "prople" instead of people, "heavly" instead of heavily, "opionion" instead of opinion, and "transpotation" instead of transportation. The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but frequent inaccuracies in spelling and word choice prevent it from achieving a higher band score. The errors do not severely impede communication, but they are noticeable and demonstrate limited control over less common lexical items, aligning with Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily marred by frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation issues. Examples include "our way of living is heavly depends on," "when i was in India i have to reach," and "there in no public transportation available." Run-on sentences are common, such as the lengthy second sentence of the first body paragraph, which links multiple clauses without proper punctuation. While the writer attempts complex structures, they are often faulty and lack control over subject-verb agreement and article usage. These errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the response at a Band 5.0.
