Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially, and importantly, the length requirement is not met as the essay falls significantly short of the two hundred and fifty-word minimum. While the writer manages to identify a few positive impacts of private transportation such as flexibility and time-saving for employees, the position regarding whether the effects tend to be positive or negative is underdeveloped. The conclusion is abruptly hinted at in the introduction, but the second main paragraph fails to fully explore the consequences of car reliance in depth, drifting primarily into a discussion of weather conditions and comfort without presenting a balanced overview of both positive and negative aspects as requested by the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization present with an introductory paragraph and a body paragraph, but clear overall progression is lacking due to the truncated nature of the response. Cohesive devices are used minimally or repetitively, such as with transitional markers like 'Firts and foremost' and 'Furthermore'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing is underdeveloped since the second body paragraph is overly long and crams multiple disparate points—ranging from employee commuting to weather conditions—together without sufficient separation or logical flow between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'comfortability' instead of comfort, 'unfcomfortable' due to spelling errors, and 'thair' for their. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'utilize' and 'forecast', but inaccuracies in word formation and spelling occur throughout the text, which occasionally causes hesitation for the reader without completely blocking communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text displays a limited range of sentence structures, with mostly simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are sometimes faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage, such as 'population from some countries', 'human's life', 'an employment', and 'These are the problems can be avoided'. Subject-verb agreement issues also appear, including 'which includes flexibility' and 'weather forecast is not good'. These frequent errors create noticeable strain for the reader.
