Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many nations people are relying on private cars for their daily routine life there are several factors which are affecting to people lifestyle these affects are in both ways negative and positive both this essay will discuss both the sides.

Car make every individual ifestyle very easy and it becomes conveninent for people to travel from one place to other place in less time , In addition to that private cars for transportation brings easy and faster route for job on the top of that they do not have to rely on the other modes of trnasportation such as Auto , public buses , Rickshaw and many more these transportation are not conveninent as well as we have to travel according to their time which may be time consuming as well as frustrating also when we are not able to reach on the destination on time . for example, office time of an employee starts at 9.00 am but that worker is rely on the public transport and bus is late on that time due to that the person may have to face serious problem in the company on the other hand a person has it's own vehicle and he has a meeting at 10.00 am with the help of car he will be able to reach at the destination on time.

On the other hand there are some disadvantages of using personal vehicle like it may leads to some high expenses which may be difficult for middle- class people to afford that expenses on the top of that some people are buying it for showing the luxury but some how they will not able to afford it in the end they have to sell that car and they will be car less.

In the end , I would like to say that car will make individual lifestyle easy and conveninent but only if people are able to afford it on the top of that they should also look for the budget while they are purchasing a care as well as try to earn extra icome for expenses of car.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the positive and negative effects of relying on private cars for transportation. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient depth. For example, the positive impact is supported with a detailed personal scenario about arriving at work on time, but the negative aspects are treated more superficially, mentioning expenses and luxury-seeking briefly without fully exploring broader societal consequences like traffic congestion or environmental pollution. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, but the limitation in fully extending every main idea keeps the response at this level. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to ensure that both sides of the prompt receive equally thorough development with more fully elaborated supporting points and relevant real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the writing into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing positive and negative aspects, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, separating the main thematic points adequately. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic or repetitive linking phrases such as 'on the top of that' and 'on the other hand' without always managing transitions smoothly. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in the opening paragraph where pronouns and sentence boundaries blur the logical progression. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices, ensure seamless transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and improve overall sentence boundary punctuation to enhance logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used represents a limited but minimally adequate range for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items and topic-related terms such as 'transportation', 'conveninent', and 'expenses', but noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation occur throughout the text. Examples include misspellings like 'conveninent' and 'icome', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'car less' and 'daily routine life'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve this criterion, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to standard word forms and collocations, and carefully check spelling to ensure precision and clarity in communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions or long run-on structures without proper punctuation. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, leading to structural instability and grammatical errors. Frequent errors occur in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'people are relying', 'Car make', 'worker is rely', and missing punctuation marking clause boundaries. These recurring errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over complex grammatical forms. To progress, the writer should focus on mastering simple sentence boundaries, improving punctuation, and practicing the accurate construction of complex clauses.
