Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative effects of private car reliance, but the development remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the introduction states that cars make life convenient and cause environmental issues, and the body paragraphs touch on maintenance costs, public transport, and pollution. However, these ideas lack thorough extension and specific, fully realized examples. The explanation that people spend a significant amount on monthly service is somewhat contradictory when immediately linked to generating part-time income, without clear context. The position is visible, but the reasoning is restricted to general statements. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with extended, logical explanations and more relevant, well-integrated examples for both the positive and negative aspects of car reliance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization, utilizing paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical links between sentences can be mechanical or confusing. For example, the transition word 'However' in the second paragraph ('However, They also receive fews benefits') is used inappropriately because it precedes a shift to discussing benefits rather than contrasting a main point effectively. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in pronouns like 'that dependencey on own cars' and 'this phenomenal'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion requires better control and more precise use of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument without noticeable disruptions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited in range, though minimally adequate for addressing the general topic. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'depend' instead of 'dependent', 'live' instead of 'life', 'convienent', 'dependecy', 'phenomenal' instead of 'phenomenon', 'mentainence', 'indeqaute', 'chellenging', 'fews', 'consumptions', 'resourses', 'ellevating', 'impact' as a verb form, and 'verious'. These spelling and word-form errors restrict the precision of the writing. To progress, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, use less common vocabulary with greater accuracy, and ensure correct word forms and spelling throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simpler constructions with frequent errors. Attempts at complex sentences tend to be faulty, such as in the opening sentence: 'the huge number of individuals are depend on personal cars', which contains errors in article usage, subject-verb agreement, and verb forms. Other frequent errors involve missing or incorrect articles ('on environment', 'on nature', 'in human live'), awkward prepositional phrases, and grammatical inaccuracies within clauses, such as 'it would creates adverse impact' and 'because of that goverment have to use'. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and interpret the intended meaning. A stronger performance requires consistent control over basic structures, fewer mechanical errors, and accurate execution of complex sentence forms.
