Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, travelling in private vehicles is becoming very popular because of their convenience and time saver. In this essay I am highlighting how people's life are changing while depending on cars and its impact on the society.

To begin with, one of the major change happened with private vehicles are travelling become very popular. In this modern era owing a car is totally common. Moreover, it symbolises independence, people starts enjoying travelling and it becomes more easy to explore new places with the family. For example, after buying a car I often start going for my vacations in my own pace and I can set my travelling time according to my convenience.

However, the impact of having a vehicle have both positive and negative. Furthermore, Some people are staying at remote locations where public transports are least options therefore, car becomes a necessity. Also, during emergencies its very important to have a private vehicle. For instance, specially when staying with elderly or kids, cars becomes prirority. Moreover, going for work to different cities can be possible with private vehicles, people can work in different shifts without worrying of travel constraints. Although, they are some concerning issues which can'ts be ingnored, the main problem is environmental issue. It creats pollution and traffic which impacts general people's life. Some people beacome very addictive to their cars even can't travel for short distance without cars. Therefore, it impacts their health, as people avoid enagaging to physical activities which is totally concerning.

In conclusion, cars makes life better but, its important to use mindfully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question by describing how car use changes daily life and by concluding that cars improve life when used mindfully, while also identifying environmental and health costs. The examples about choosing your own travel times, reaching work in different cities, and helping elderly people or children make the discussion relevant. However, the overall judgement is not fully consistent: you mention both benefits and harms, but do not clearly state whether the effects tend to be positive or negative. Some points, such as cars making travel more popular and enabling work across cities, are asserted rather than explained in depth. State your overall view directly and develop fewer effects with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the contrast signalled by “However” helps the reader follow the shift from benefits to drawbacks. Examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. However, the second body paragraph combines necessity, emergencies, employment, pollution, traffic and health, so its progression becomes crowded. Several linking words, including “Moreover” and “Furthermore,” are used mechanically, and the relationship between some ideas is not always clear. For example, the paragraph moves from remote locations to emergencies and then to work without explaining how these points connect. Group related benefits together, separate the disadvantages, and use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “independence,” “convenience,” “emergencies,” “pollution” and “physical activities,” which allows you to discuss several effects of car reliance. Some phrases also communicate personal experience effectively, such as travelling “at my own pace.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “owing a car,” “prirority,” “ingnored” and “addictive to their cars.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “time saver,” “least options” and “impacts general people’s life.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise expressions would make your ideas clearer and more natural without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style example about emergencies and a contrast introduced by “Although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “people’s life are changing,” “one of the major change happened,” “the impact … have,” and “cars makes life better.” The clause beginning “Although, they are some concerning issues” is also not grammatically well formed, and punctuation around “but” in the conclusion is awkward. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and how to build complete clauses; then proofread complex sentences to ensure their parts fit together.
