Student answer (Band 6.0)

In a country, an individual's commute in entirely depend either on his/her personal vehicle or public transportation.

Countries like USA, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and many other Europeon countries have one of the best public transportation infrastructure in the world. However, in some Asians countries, public people rely more on the private vehicle. This aspect directly and indirectly effects people life and way they live.

In my opinion, there are both positive and negative impact on the way we live of this situation.

if a large group of population is forced to use private vehicle for transportation, that directly reflects a bad economy. A good public infrastructure is a sign of growing economy. For example India, India is aggresively explanding its infrastruture. Leading to more job in the economy.

Similarly, a person using his/her car for moving around has to pay for insurance and car installements along with toll for using road. A huge burden on a person pocket. Middle income and lower class people are most affected in this case.

Additonally, road blockage, traffic jams, congestion are more common due to high number of cars on the roads, which makes people life more difficult.

Moving ahead, how we can forget environment cost, more vehicle on the roads, means more emission. For eg., Beijing in China, Banglore and Delhi in India. People of these cities are leaving in a polution chamber. As per some reports, every 1 out of 4 newly born childern is suffering from lungs diseases. This is one of the worse effect of having more cars on roads.

On the other hand, undoubtedly, a personal vechicle means more comfort, easy going and more convienence,

A own car saves time and we can go any where and any point of time. Travelling in your own vehicle ensure a safer travel especially when you a child.

Similarly, a personal car can take you any where. Some places are not connected or have limited accessbility, in that situation, it is easier for people to travel via their own car.

For a economy, more cars means more tax for government via registration and toll, leading to increase in the GDP.

In conclusion, relying on private car for transportation have both negative and positive impact. However, negative impacts outrage positives ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions by describing how car dependence affects daily life and judging the overall effects as negative, while acknowledging benefits such as comfort, time savings, and access to places with limited public transport. The discussion includes relevant examples, including traffic congestion and pollution in Beijing, Bangalore, and Delhi. This meets the task well, and your conclusion makes your position clear. To develop the response further, explain some claims more carefully: the link between reliance on cars and a “bad economy” is asserted rather than demonstrated, and the point about tax revenue and GDP is not weighed against the costs discussed. More precise support and fuller development of these less-developed ideas would strengthen the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs on disadvantages, a paragraph on advantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Similarly,” “Additionally,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the shift between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening comparison between countries does not lead smoothly into the main argument, and “Moving ahead” does not clearly signal the environmental point that follows. Several ideas are placed in short, separate paragraphs, while the economic claims appear in different sections without being explicitly compared. Use clearer topic sentences and link related points—for example, group the financial and economic effects together—to create more continuous progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “public transportation infrastructure,” “traffic jams,” “congestion,” “emission,” and “accessibility,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “middle income and lower class” and “environment cost.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “Europeon,” “aggresively,” “polution,” and “a pollution chamber” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “easy going” and “a huge burden on a person pocket.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures, as in “if a large group of population is forced to use private vehicle…” and “which makes people life more difficult.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “an individual's commute in entirely depend” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “relying on private car … have” does not maintain subject–verb agreement. The fragment “Leading to more job in the economy” also needs to be joined to a complete sentence. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review articles and singular/plural agreement.
