Student answer (Band 6.0)
People prefer to use private transport for their travel such as their personal cars. Using the private mode of transport has a huge impact on their lifestyle. Overall, private cars proved to be the most comfortable source to travel in local areas.
To begin with, using private car can save a lot of time of the individual. If people are travelling by using their own car, they have no fear of ticket cancellation and bus delay a minute before their journey starts. They can travel easily without stopping at every bus stop which actually takes a lot of time. However, travelling on private car can make journey very comfortable. If you are travelling on a long route and you get tired or want something from outside, you can simply stop your car at any point without asking anyone. For example, last month I was travelling with my friends from Aberdeen to Glasgow and it was our first time seeing the beautiful views of Scotland, we stopped our car in Dundee, took pictures of each other, had lunch without any problem and then we started our journey again.
Although, using private car by everyone has become a big source of traffic pollution in major cities. These days it has become a trend that every family member owns a personal car, which is causing extreme air pollution in big cities. It is also making our outside environment unbearable. Furthermore, parkings are not enough in crowded places to accomodate the incresing number of vehicles. In busy areas such as city centres, parking concerns are rising on daily basic. As these areas has majority of shopping centres and people use to go their frequently. Accomodating everyone's car saperately in a single parking area is a real challange especially in peak hours of the day.
In conclusion, having a private car is a blessing for one person but it is causing problem for others. Using public transport can lower the air pollution in the world and it will also allow people to save their money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: the essay explains how cars affect daily life and gives a clear overall judgement that their effects are mixed, but ultimately harmful to others. The time-saving and convenience points are relevant, and the Aberdeen-to-Glasgow example makes the benefit concrete. You also explain pollution and parking pressure as negative effects. However, the positive side receives more specific development than the negative side, which is mostly asserted; for example, explain how pollution affects health or how congestion changes commuting. The conclusion introduces saving money through public transport, but this point is not developed in the main discussion. Developing the less-supported effects and linking them more directly to how people live would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from convenience to environmental and parking problems is easy to follow, and connectors such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, however. “Although” begins a paragraph without a matching main clause, and “As these areas has majority of shopping centres” is an incomplete, unclear continuation. The long travel anecdote also contains several events in one sentence, making the sequence less controlled. Use clearer links between cause and consequence, and make sure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning with unambiguous references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to discuss transport, including “ticket cancellation,” “air pollution,” “crowded places,” and “peak hours.” The personal example also gives you opportunities to use specific language naturally. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “private mode of transport,” “parking concerns are rising on daily basic,” and “accomodate the incresing number of vehicles.” There are also spelling errors, including “saperately” and “challange,” which reduce precision. Some phrases, such as “a blessing for one person,” are understandable but informal and imprecise for this discussion. Aim for more natural collocations and accurate spelling, while varying repeated references to cars and travel.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If people are travelling … they have no fear” and a relative clause in “which is causing extreme air pollution.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include the missing article in “using private car,” the agreement error in “these areas has,” and the incorrect construction “people use to go their frequently.” The sentence beginning “As these areas…” is also incomplete, while the long sentence about the Scotland trip would benefit from more controlled punctuation and sentence boundaries. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and clause construction, and check that dependent clauses are attached to complete sentences.
