Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many parts of world, private car is main means of transportation. It has several benefits, such as conveniences and flexibility but excessive usage of private vehicles may cause negative impact on environment.

On the one hand, most of the people rely on private cats for transportation because they can reached their destination without follow public transport schedules or wait for buses. Sometime it is beneficial specially for those place where public transport facility is limited such as some rural and countryside areas. Private automobile allow families to travel together comfortably and enable to transport heavy goods easily. For example, parents can drive their children to school before going to work and that thing saving time.

On the other hand, excessive usage of private transport can cause several problems. Firstly, It may increase traffic congestion on road during rush hours as result people may spend hours in traffic instead of using time for family, work and leisure activities. Secondly, It can effect the environment. Extreme use of vehicles can cause climate change, pollution, global worming which can effect human health and nature. Furthermore, people rely on cars as result they walk less and increasing health problems. In many large cities, traffic congestion and poor air quality have become major concern.

In my opinion Government should invest in reliable and affordable public transport and also promotes usage of public transport.

In conclusion, although private cars provide comfort, flexibility, and independence but it can damage the environment and harm public health. I believe that a better balance between private vehicles and public vehicles can solve this problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain how car reliance affects daily life and give a clear overall view that its effects are more negative, despite benefits such as flexibility and comfort. Relevant examples, including driving children to school and limited transport in rural areas, help make the discussion concrete. The negative effects—congestion, pollution, and reduced walking—are also appropriate. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between car use and health problems could be developed with a clearer explanation or example. Your final recommendation about government investment is relevant, but its connection to the effects discussed could be made more explicit. More balanced development of the main ideas would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, contrasting paragraphs on benefits and drawbacks, a recommendation, and a conclusion. The progression from convenience to social and environmental costs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Firstly,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. Some linking is mechanical, however, particularly the repeated use of “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore.” Connections between ideas could also be more precise: the recommendation about public transport appears as a separate point rather than being clearly tied to the problems described. Improve cohesion by varying transitions and using clearer references to show how each consequence supports your overall position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “traffic congestion,” “public transport,” “flexibility,” and “air quality.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “reliable and affordable,” though the range and control are uneven. Several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision: “private cats” appears where “private cars” is intended, “global worming” should be “global warming,” and “effect” is used where the verb “affect” is needed. Phrases such as “transport facility” and “that thing saving time” are also unnatural. Build accuracy by learning common transport and environmental collocations and checking spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening (“although private cars provide comfort…”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “as a result.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors occur across sentence patterns and sometimes make the wording awkward. Examples include “they can reached” instead of “they can reach,” “Private automobile allow” instead of “Private automobiles allow,” and “people walk less and increasing health problems,” which needs a parallel grammatical structure. Articles and agreement also need attention, as in “In many parts of world” and “this problems.” Practise checking verb forms, singular/plural agreement, articles, and complete clause structure, especially in longer sentences.
