Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, people depend on private transporation to commute, like cars. It affects daily living habits and it effects environment negatively.

To begin with depending upon car leads to have poor lifestyle. People catch many diseases due to lack of exercise in their day to day life. Cars are used to drive to work, groceries, sending children to school and many more. That means there is not enough exercise of the body like walking; because it made them lazy and reluctant to pay attention towards their health. Obesity is the common example. Many people are suffering from overweight issue, unless joinly gym and increasing foot steps daily, they use cars to travel to nearest destination. In result, they heart and respiratory issues.

Another reason, cars are responsible for pollution. Though there are updated versions of car that works on batteries like Tesla, a few people like to buy. Also many places are not suitable to drive electronic cars because of poor road mapping. Pollution effects the envirnoment by increasing proportion of cardon dioxide in air. It effects only flaura and fauna, and limited number of oxygen leads to have many health issue for humans. For instance, Mumbai does not have good quality of air beacuse of alot of number of cars on roads.

To conclude, car transportaion is the negetive development, as it effcts of environemt and human health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question by describing effects on health and the environment, and your conclusion clearly states that you view car dependence negatively. The examples of driving to work, shopping and taking children to school help explain how cars reduce everyday physical activity, while Mumbai illustrates the pollution point. However, the effects on how people live are not explored very broadly, and several claims are asserted rather than explained—for example, the link between car use and “heart and respiratory issues.” The discussion of electric cars is also brief and does not fully clarify its relevance. The response is 230 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250; use the additional space to develop and support your main ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs covering health and pollution, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “Another reason,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some links between claims are abrupt or unclear. For instance, the sentence about people joining a gym and increasing their steps does not connect smoothly to the point about using cars for nearby journeys, and “In result” introduces the health consequences without a clear grammatical link. The ideas are generally grouped appropriately, but more precise referencing and transitions between cause, example and consequence would make the progression smoother and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “pollution,” “exercise,” “batteries,” “carbon dioxide,” and “flora and fauna,” so the reader can understand the main subject matter. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision. Examples include “poor lifestyle,” “overweight issue,” “limited number of oxygen,” and “a lot of number of cars”; these expressions are awkward or unclear. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “transporation,” “envirnoment,” and “negetive.” Aim to learn common collocations for health and transport, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the effects without relying on repeated general terms such as “effects” and “issues.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause beginning “Though there are updated versions of car…” and a cause-and-effect sentence about exercise. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “Cars are used to drive to work, groceries, sending children to school” mixes grammatical forms, while “In result, they heart and respiratory issues” is missing a verb and has an unclear structure. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction, as in “car leads to have poor lifestyle” and “cars … that works.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check that each sentence has a complete main clause.
