Student answer (Band 6.5)
Mobile phones are very essential part of people everyday life. Using mobile phones are important for everyone safety. However, some people use cell phones during driving is dangerous and risky. I completely agree with the statement that it is illegal to use mobile phones by drivers. In this essay, I shall discuss both perspectives with reasons and relevant examples.
One of the prominent reason why cell phone should be made illegal is that while driving someone use it , he or she can distract from driving. As a result, drivers can face major accident, which can cause serious injuries to themselves and also others. That is to say, while driving using mobile phone is risky for both individuals and passengers. Moreover, others divers also get affected by others drivers who use mobile phones for talk and message. For instance, a recent report by government of Pakistan is that, 70% accident happen because of drivers who usually chat or talk while driving and met with collision with others cars. Therefore, governments should make a strict law against drivers who use cell phone.
On the other hand, some people think that cell phone should use by drivers. They often argue that in an emergency situation, it is very necessary to call someone for help. Cell phone can be useful in tricky situation such as a car broke down and health related issues.
Thus, to wrap up this discussion, some people think that mobile phone is necessary in emergency situation. However, I strongly agree that cell phone should be made illegal for drivers because of safety concern and governments should make a strict rules and put a fine for who offence these laws.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the task and maintained a clear position throughout. You stated your agreement in the introduction and reinforced it in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the counter-argument regarding emergency situations is mentioned but not fully explored or refuted with depth. Additionally, the prompt asked for your opinion on whether it should be made illegal, and while you provided reasons, the supporting examples could be more detailed to fully develop your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is extended with more analysis rather than just stating the consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'As a result', 'Moreover', and 'Thus' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. There are also instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the general argument and the specific example could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'very essential', 'major accident', and 'strict law' are functional but lack the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'someone use it' instead of 'someone uses it' and 'who offence these laws' instead of 'who violate these laws'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating simple adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Using mobile phones are important'), article usage ('by government of Pakistan'), and awkward phrasing ('some people use cell phones during driving is dangerous'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and preposition usage would be highly beneficial.
