Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning cell phone use while driving. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments provided. While the main ideas—distraction and the need for stricter enforcement—are relevant, they are not fully developed. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which further impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you should expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the transition 'However to deal with more accuracy'. Some sentences lack logical flow, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between younger generations and the negligence of others is not clearly established. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending of the essay disrupts the overall coherence. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would improve the structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'adventurous thing' to describe dangerous behavior and 'icons of careless driving's consequences'. Some word choices are repetitive or imprecise, such as 'in condition to do that'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'main reason of raising levels', you could use 'primary cause of the increasing incidence'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'Using cell phone'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'Younger generation are'), and punctuation mistakes, such as unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement. Additionally, proofreading for minor slips like the incomplete final sentence would significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
