Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is believed that a driver should not allow to use a mobile phone while driving because it can be risky for the driver and also for other road users. I partially agree with the statement that strict law should be enforce to avoid the usage of mobile phone while driving.

On the one hand, in recent years mobile phone has been a essential part of life and people cannot imagine their life without cellphones. If the drivers cannot use the mobile phone while driving by following law enforcement they will lose career opportunities, because they cannot reply immediately. For example, sometimes it happens people have to response back in few hours of any phone call, text message or emails due to driving drivers will not able to check their phone. Therefore, they will fail to achieve something important.

On the other hand, although usage of mobile phone is crucial, incidents happen on road cannot be overlooked. Cell phones can divert the driver's mind completely towards other things and they might be fail to concentrate on upcoming road coniditions. For example, in a bad weather accidents can happen if driver is using mobile phone and fails to cantral the vehicle. Consequently, only strict rules can warn drivers not to use cell phone while driving.

To conclude, no doubt there are already some rules has been made to avoid the usage of cell phones on road but some drivers fails to obey them. Rather than making it illegal more stricts actions can be taken by government because it can be beneficial in an emergencies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, although the development of ideas is somewhat limited. You partially agree with the statement, but your arguments regarding 'career opportunities' are not fully convincing in the context of road safety. The ideas are relevant, but the support provided could be more detailed to reach a higher band. For instance, the argument about emergency situations in the conclusion is a new point that should have been integrated into the body paragraphs. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of argumentation is inconsistent.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Consequently' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the progression of ideas feels slightly disjointed. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure follows a standard essay format, which helps the reader follow your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'law enforcement', 'divert', and 'incidents'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'strict law should be enforce' (should be enforced) and 'fails to cantral' (fails to control). You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise lexical items that would be expected at a higher band level. Spelling errors like 'coniditions' and 'cantral' also occur.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'a driver should not allow to use' (should not be allowed to use), 'mobile phone has been a essential' (an essential), and 'some rules has been made' (have been made). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, passive voice construction, and the correct use of articles. Your control over complex structures is currently inconsistent.
