Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is certainly true that technology make everything easy for everyone but the usage of it while breaking the rules put them in major threat. people are using the mobile phones during driving creates distraction which is dangerous for their life. So, cell phone use by drivers should be made illegal. I strongly agree with this statement and give my reasons in the support and give opinion in the following paragraphs.
first and foremost reason, these gadgets distract them from road, while reading messages or text messages to someone it creates visual distraction for them. this time at highway is equal to cross the football area field. for example,For instance, studies conducted by transport safety authorities show that drivers using phones are four times more likely to get into a crash than those who keep their eyes strictly on the road. This demonstrates that even a momentary loss of concentration can lead to disastrous consequences.
Another one,Secondly, holding or using a phone physically reduces a driver's control over the vehicle. Safe driving requires both hands on the steering wheel to react quickly to unexpected hazards, such as a sudden pedestrian stepping onto the street or a car stopping abruptly ahead. A driver who is holding a phone will have delayed reaction times, making it much harder to brake or steer out of danger in time.
In conclusion, using a mobile phone while driving severely compromises road safety through visual, manual, and mental distractions. For these reasons, I fully support making all forms of mobile phone use while driving strictly illegal, backed by severe penalties to protect public lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and supported by logical arguments regarding distraction and physical control of the vehicle. The inclusion of a specific example regarding transport safety statistics adds depth to the argument. However, the development could be slightly more nuanced to reach a higher band, as some points are stated rather than fully explored. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question posed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'first and foremost', 'for example', and 'secondly' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally good, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level transitions, such as the slightly awkward 'Another one,Secondly' phrasing. Despite these small mechanical issues, the progression of ideas remains clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'distraction', 'disastrous consequences', and 'compromises road safety'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'major threat' instead of 'major risk' and 'cross the football area field', which is an unclear comparison. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, more precise and sophisticated vocabulary would be required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('technology make', 'people are using... creates') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some errors in sentence boundaries and capitalization, such as the repetitive 'For instance,For example'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication or cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the student should focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and refining complex sentence construction.
