Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argues that usage of cell phone while driving is dangerous because it causes the driver to become distracted also cell phone use by drivers should be made illegal. However , I partially agree with this statement.
On the first hand, we learned from beginning of our school that do not use phone if you are driving. The knowledge is already given all around. For instance, there was debate held in our school regarding this topic so that children get to know more and aware of it. However, this is the major thing by which accidents happens everyday. Moreover, individuals who drink and drive phase major accidents problems. As, there are boards on the roads to remind all of us to do not use mobile phones and do not drink and drive.
On the second hand, people can use cell phones on speaker or with the help of connectivity of cars system so that they can talk to someone if they want. In our daily life we see such as Uber drivers, they have handle on their bike or on the car so that they can watch the address and customers details. According to me that is safe and good side to use phones as well as along with that they are working.
In conclusion, while driving is really very harmful for human who is driving along with it who are driving in the front or with them. Also, if people can use with safety they can drive freely and reach safe to their place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a partially agreeable position. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear. For instance, the argument regarding school education is somewhat tangential to the core issue of legalizing cell phone use. The second body paragraph attempts to provide a counter-argument regarding hands-free technology, but the explanation is underdeveloped and lacks a clear link to the main thesis. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack the depth and logical progression required for a higher band score. The conclusion is also somewhat vague, failing to clearly synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'On the first hand' and 'On the second hand' are non-standard and distract from the flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often applied incorrectly or in a repetitive manner, such as the frequent use of 'also' and 'however'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'phase major accidents problems' (likely meant 'face') and 'have handle on their bike'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple, everyday words. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation and collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of road safety and technology would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('It is often argues'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures ('do not use phone if you are driving'). While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are frequently marred by errors that occasionally impede readability. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. The range of structures is limited, and the persistent nature of the errors indicates a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
