Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that driving is dangerous because it causes the driver to become distraction and could lead to the severe accident. Therefore, cell phones use by the drivers should be made illegal. I partly agree with this view. I will share my viewpoint and answer to this question with appropriate example.
The primary reason why I support this view point is that answer the phone call or operating the phone will definitely lead to the major mishappening on road. This is because of the distraction the drivers might suffer due to the usage of the cell phone. For example-The driver of the car is operating the phone. Due to this, he jumped the red light and cross the signal. The motor bike person smack into this car. The collision lead to the death of the motor bike person. Therefore, strict actions should be taken for these kind of carelessness.
Another important reason is that sometimes the person has to attend the phone call, one should park the car on the side of the road and just answer the call and then continue the driving. Furthermore, the traffic police and department should release some important rules and regulations regarding serious topic.
For instance- In foreign countries they are very strict in terms of safety. They ensure that the public living is not having any harm if they are being on road. lastly, the government cuts the points when the rules are violated which automatically creates the sense of discipline in everyone.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the usage of the cell phones while driving should be strictly prohibited because of the safety of every individual living. Also, heavy vehicles should also be stopped entering to certain areas so that the pedestrian can walk freely without any uncertainly mis happenings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons, such as the danger of distraction and the need for safety regulations. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example of the car accident is a bit simplistic and lacks a more formal tone. Additionally, the conclusion introduces a new, unrelated point about heavy vehicles, which is not relevant to the specific prompt about cell phone use. To improve, ensure all supporting points directly relate to the core argument and expand on your reasoning with more depth and academic nuance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The primary reason,' 'Another important reason,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the phrase 'regarding serious topic' lacks a determiner, and the connection between the paragraph about foreign countries and the conclusion is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. For example, you use 'mishappening' instead of 'accident' or 'collision,' and 'motor bike person' instead of 'motorcyclist.' Phrases like 'public living is not having any harm' are awkward and unnatural. While your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your ideas, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic terminology to express your arguments more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('the drivers,' 'the motor bike person'), subject-verb agreement errors ('the collision lead to'), and awkward phrasing ('answer the phone call or operating the phone'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, verb tenses, and sentence construction.
