Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, it should not be legal to use cell phones while driving. As it can cause serious accidents. I am agree with statement, cell phone should be banned but with some conditions.
To commence, it is believed by some people that cell phone usage during driving should be banned and consider it as illegal. There are some reasons. The first one is people pay less attention to driving while using phone. To explain it, people are very addictive to cell phones nowadays. They may totally lost their control over driving while using phone. which may cause serious injury to a person and some another individuals. For example, sometimes people get into phones and try to break signal which may give rise to the accident and some innocent people who are crossing road may get serious injuries. Another reason is that even though they are not watching screen, still there is chance for accidents. To explain, if someone is just talking over phone, the emotions while talking may lead to serious issue. For example, if someone is having serious conversation during phone or having a fight that may result frustration and a person may lose his control on a car.
On the other hand, although I believe using phones are not good option, if a person had serious issues in family or in any emergency they may pick their calls. For instance, undoubtedly there are some conditions in families in which people have to answer the calls. So, I believe that if there is emergency, only that call will be considered as legal action. But using cell phones without such conditions must be banned.
In conclusion, In my opinion, using cell phones while driving should be illegal but except some emergencies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, advocating for a ban with specific exceptions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of emotional conversations and physical distraction on driving safety. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the argument regarding 'exceptions' is not fully explored in terms of how such a policy would be practically implemented or enforced. While the position is clear, the supporting examples could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence', 'The first one is', and 'On the other hand', though some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although some sentences are fragmented, which slightly disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments from the counter-argument and the conclusion. The overall structure is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'people get into phones' and 'lose his control on a car'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and occasionally struggles with collocations. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of flexibility and the presence of errors in word choice limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on learning more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to the topic of traffic safety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I am agree with statement' (should be 'I agree with the statement'), 'They may totally lost' (should be 'They may totally lose'), and 'using phones are not good option' (should be 'using phones is not a good option'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with lowercase letters or being incorrectly fragmented. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing.
