Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern world, technology got very important place in our day-to-day lives but it is dangerous in the same way as it is useful. According to my perspective, use of mobile phones while driving should be prohibited or they may result in detrimental consequences.

To begin with, as all know that mobile phones are used by everyone to complete their daily tasks. These gadgets are quiet useful and make our tasks quite easy with the help of different kind of software applications. However, if someone is using mobile phone during driving it become detrimental in some ways as it will result in distraction, due to which accident might happen. For example, according to reports, mainly 70% of road accidents happen due to distraction caused by gadgets such as mobiles.

Secondly, if someone is using mobile during driving car or any big vehicle such as truck on highway. this thing is totally against the laws and if by chance they caught by any cop. They will charged with ticket as well deduction in driving points that also affect their driving record. For instance, in Canada, if on road you are using mobile phone for any reason and get get caught by any traffic police. They have an authority to give you ticket on spot and deduct your driving points as well.

In conclusion, technology is quite useful and making our life's easy but it is always advisable to use these kind to technology in an appropriate way . So, nobody get harmed as well as in accordance to laws and regulations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of prohibiting mobile phone use while driving. The main ideas—distraction leading to accidents and legal consequences—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding legal consequences is repetitive, and the example provided is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments, perhaps discussing the psychological impact of distraction or the effectiveness of current enforcement strategies. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the transition between the general mention of technology and the specific issue of driving could be smoother. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'these kind to technology', where the pronoun reference is slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'detrimental consequences', 'prohibited', and 'enforcement'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'technology got very important place' (should be 'has taken') and 'these kind to technology' (should be 'these kinds of technology'). The range is sufficient to communicate your point, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the use of mobile phones'), subject-verb agreement ('it become detrimental'), and sentence fragments ('if by chance they caught by any cop'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences ending prematurely or lacking necessary commas. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they are frequent enough to limit the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
