Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is dangerous for drivers to use their mobile phone while driving because it distracts them. Making use of cell phone while driving should be illegal. I totally agree with this view because it makes them focus on their journey and also reduces accident that could be sustained during the process.
Firstly, one of the reasons while cell phone should be made illegal for drivers when they are driving is because so they can concentrate during the process. when drivers are focused on where they are going to and not handling their mobiles it gives them complete control over their cars thereby reducing any issues that might arise. Moreover, these also helps to reduce vehicle collision. For example, Transport drivers who do not have their phones with them while driving gets to their destination safely and faster.
Secondly, another reason is that it helps to reduce accident. If mobiles phones are made to be restricted for drivers while driving they will be reduction in car and pedestrian accidents. Drivers will drive carefully and not be distracted by the ringing tones of their phones. Take for instance, drivers who are make use of their phone when driving tend to be collide with another car or hit an individual. In addition, restriction of mobiles should be made compulsory for drivers because it helps to reduce an unexpected mishap.
In conclusion, I believe making cell phone illegal for drivers when driving is a good development because it keeps them focused on their journey and also reduces road accidents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on concentration and accident reduction. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the second paragraph and the third paragraph both focus on the same core argument regarding accident reduction. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on different aspects of the issue, such as the psychological impact of multitasking or the potential for stricter enforcement, rather than restating the same point in different ways. The position is consistent, but the supporting arguments lack depth and variety.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences can be slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is weak because the content overlaps significantly. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point that logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'dangerous', 'illegal', and 'reduce'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'sustained during the process' (when referring to accidents) and 'make use of their phone'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'mitigate', 'distraction-related incidents', 'stringent regulations', or 'cognitive load'. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help you express your ideas with more nuance and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these also helps', 'drivers... tends to be collide') and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'one of the reasons while cell phone should be made illegal'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are clunky. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex structures like conditional sentences ('If mobile phones were restricted...'). Proofreading for these specific errors will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
