Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, people are using mobile phones while driving, this is too dangerous, as people may distract, loose thier focus from driving and injury happens to passangers. To a major extend, I strongly agree with this given view, My inclination will be elucideted in the further paragraphs.

As today's generation, people are mostly uses thier mobile phones while driving, knowing this can happends accidents. it can make financial burden on thier lives. For example, driver is using cell phones, he distracted from driving and accident happeds. As result, vehicle damaged badly. repair cost will be increased and they have to face financial problems.

Furthermore, this may damage thier halth, if major accident happeds. people can die or loose their body parts, which is most important for them. for instant, I saw the artical on indianexpress about recent incident happed in delhi, while family went to the picnic and returning to home, they had a accident, in article they mentioned their one child had an deep injury on his head and his wife also in the critical condition. Resulting, he may loose their family just becaouse his one mistake.

However, This trend has plus point too, while driving people are using phones to eye on rmap to ensure the right track. this helps them to save time, for example, driver wants to reach the destination on time and also he need to find the exact location while driving, he just simply use te map on his phone and track the location. Resulting, he can reach the destinations without stoping the vehicle.

In conclution, I belive using phones while driving can may injures their lives if they loose their focus on the road, therefore, using cell phones should be baned. However, this may also l leads to save thier time and reach them on the destination on time without stoping the vehicle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear position that cell phone use should be banned while acknowledging a counter-argument. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The arguments regarding financial burden and health risks are relevant but rely on repetitive phrasing and limited examples. The counter-argument regarding GPS navigation is included, but the conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it reiterates the benefits of phone use while simultaneously calling for a ban. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more nuanced exploration of the consequences rather than repeating the same points about accidents.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'For example', and 'In conclusion', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'Resulting, he may...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'he' when referring to a general driver. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the transition between the main argument and the counter-argument could be smoother to better reflect the complexity of the issue.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'thier' instead of 'their', 'halth' for 'health', 'artical' for 'article', and 'conclution' for 'conclusion'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'injury happens to passangers' instead of 'passengers suffer injuries'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial burden' and 'critical condition', the persistent spelling and collocation errors limit the range and accuracy of the lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people are mostly uses'), tense inconsistencies, and missing articles. Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'In recent years, people are using mobile phones while driving, this is too dangerous'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
