Student answer (Band 6.5)
Usage of cellphones while driving has increased drastically lately and due to the dangers it holds. I strongly agree that imposing a strict law is the only option to stop people from using handheld devices while driving a vehicle.
To begin with, driving a vehicle is a very responsible duty. Drivers using cellphones are not just risking their own life but also risking others life. Using mobile phone while driving can distract them from the traffic as well as any other obstacle on the road. Most of the road accidents are caused by distracted drivers and usage of mobile phones are the most prominent reason of distraction in many cases.
To reduce these accidents caused due to the negligence of the drivers. A strict bill should be passed. Which if violated the responsible person should be fined. The best way to handle these situation, is to design and fit a mechanism which can signal the driver to stop using the device while they are driving. Moreover, awareness programs should be arranged in each town by the local government to educate locals about the risks of using mobile phones while driving. For example, in India during my driving test. We were all introduced with the necessary precautions one needs to take care of while driving. Which made us all aware of the dangers of using a cell phone while driving holds.
Furthermore, if someone has to attend a call they should pull over on the side to attend it. I suggest users to fit navigation screens in their cars, which would help them for the navigation task.
To conclude, I highly agree with the idea of imposing a law which stops the user from using a mobile phones while driving. As it holds various unseen dangers for them as well as for others. Therefore, this law should be imposed as soon as possible and awareness should be spread among citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your agreement, such as the dangers of distraction and the need for legal deterrents. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the suggestion to 'fit a mechanism' to signal drivers is a bit vague and lacks practical detail. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully extended with more specific examples or logical consequences. Overall, the response is well-focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where sentence-level cohesion could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'To reduce these accidents caused due to the negligence of the drivers. A strict bill should be passed' is a sentence fragment that disrupts the flow. Improving the connection between these shorter sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'negligence', 'prominent', and 'precautions'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'introduced with the necessary precautions' (should be 'introduced to') and 'usage of mobile phones are' (subject-verb agreement error). While you attempt to use more sophisticated language, the control is not always consistent. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary to avoid repetition of words like 'driving' and 'cellphone'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'usage... are') and punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with fragments like 'Which if violated...'. There are also minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'risking others life' (should be 'others' lives'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence completeness would be highly beneficial.
