Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, majority of accidents have been caused by using a cell phone while driving. Therefore, It is often purposed to make a cell phone use by drivers illegal. Although I agree with the statement because it can significantly reduce the risk of accidents on roads, others measures should also be implemented to address this issue.
The main reason why I believe cell phones use by drivers should be banned is because it can distract the drivers. Cell phones are generally use for navigation, texts and calls. So, while driving if an individuals check messages or receive calls or navigate maps, it can divert their attention from road and traffics, and can reduce their reaction time. As a result, drivers may miss red lights or important signage which can cause serious accidents. This is not only dangerous for themselves but also cause serious injuries to passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
In my opinion, while banning or making illegal cell phones use can significantly reduce the chances of accidents, to get rid of this problem completely other measures should also be taken such as educational seminar at schools or universities. It has been often noticed that although the governments in many countries have banned electronic uses for drivers, number of accidents are still occurred because of cell phones use. It happens because many drivers hide their phones only when they saw police or other authorities just to avoid fines, but other time they use it freely. So, it is very important to teach drivers at a very young age about the consequences of mobiles use during driving.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that a cell phone use is dangerous while driving, because it can distract the drivers who may cause accidents. So, mobile phones use for drivers should be made legal, simultaneously other measures such as education seminar should also be taken.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout the essay. Your ideas are relevant, such as the mention of driver distraction and the suggestion of educational programs. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that education is a solution, you could have provided more specific details on how such seminars would effectively change driver behavior. Additionally, there is a significant error in the conclusion where you state that mobile phone use should be made 'legal', which contradicts your earlier argument. This minor lapse in consistency slightly affects the clarity of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In my opinion', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion', to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Furthermore, there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother; for example, the transition between the dangers of phone use and the proposed educational solutions could be more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow despite some minor lapses in linking.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'distracted', 'signage', and 'consequences'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'purposed' instead of 'proposed', 'electronic uses' instead of 'electronic device use', and 'other time' instead of 'at other times'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your ability to convey ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'majority of accidents' (missing 'the'), 'Cell phones are generally use' (should be 'used'), 'if an individuals check' (should be 'individual'), and 'number of accidents are still occurred' (should be 'still occur'). These errors are noticeable and occur in both simple and complex structures. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
