Student answer (Band 5.5)

Usage of mobile phone during driving is unsafe due to causes the driver to become less concentraction. Thus, cell phone use by drivers should be illegal. I totally disagree with this statement, because of these reasons first , cell phone, helps in emergency services, second to contact to others. In upcoming paragraph, i will share the examples.

To begin with, Cell phone assist in emergency situation. Every day lot of people use their vehicle in order to finish their important work. such as medical condition. For examples, if a pregent women, going to the hospital for her delivery and on the way, she feel severe pain , her phone automatically contact family members to help her. Furthermore, Mobile phones not only utilize for contact but also helpful to reduce stress and feel refresh. There are number of option on phone to find peaceful music to give break to the mind as well music options to feel more energetic to get ready for work.

Move towards, Mobile phones give opportunities to contact with love ones. It is best option for who are busy and living aboard or far. For instance, truck drivers are on roads almost 4 to 6 days in a week due to work. If they do not have option to use their phone, as a result, they suffer from home sickness. There is no doubt, individuals required to check well-being for their family.

To conclude that, it is true that, scrolling on the phone is hazard; however the benefits cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the proposed ban. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention emergency services and staying in touch, the arguments are somewhat superficial and lack depth. For instance, the suggestion that using a phone while driving helps one 'feel refresh' or listen to music is not a strong counter-argument to the safety risks posed by distracted driving. To improve, you should focus on more robust arguments, such as the role of GPS navigation or hands-free technology, and provide more detailed explanations of how these benefits outweigh the dangers.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. Transitions like 'Move towards' are non-standard and awkward. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', the logical progression between sentences is occasionally weak. For example, the transition from discussing emergency situations to listening to music within the same paragraph lacks a clear logical link. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'less concentraction' (concentration), 'pregent' (pregnant), and 'scrolling on the phone is hazard' (a hazard). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'utilize for contact' instead of 'used for communication'. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('cell phone helps', 'individuals required'), article usage ('a pregent women'), and sentence structure ('Usage of mobile phone during driving is unsafe due to causes the driver...'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these common errors is essential.
