Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this era, people are using cell phones during driving a vehicle which is dangerous for their life as it distracted them. I totally agree with this statement and will elaborate in my upcoming paragraphs.

The first and foremost is that using mobile phones while driving is dangerous because sometimes driver is busy in their cell phones forget to see arround due to which accident get happen. For example: recent reports indicates that lot of accidents was happening due to the usage of electric devices during driving vehicles because its became a habit of people use cell phone when they are driving a car due to which they get distracted which results in accidents.

Moreover, using mobile while driving also creates a traffic jam roads because some stand on the red signal they don’t focus on the light which turns into green because they are busy in using phones which may creates traffic jams. In addition to this , mobile phones also not good for health because excessive use of mobile leads to stress if drivers use excessive devices it may cause stress due to which they can’t concentrate properly on driving because of this accident will happen. For instance: If driver use mobile phone while driving he / she not see their car will running in a right direction.

To conclude, usage of mobile phones during driving vehicles is harmful of drivers because it distracts them and may lead to serious accidents therefore, drivers should avoid using cell phones while driving.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning cell phone use while driving. However, the development of ideas is limited. While the first body paragraph touches on distraction and accidents, the second paragraph introduces less relevant points, such as traffic jams and stress, which are not directly linked to the core argument of distraction. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the supporting examples are vague (e.g., 'recent reports indicates'). To improve, you should focus on developing two strong, distinct arguments—such as the cognitive load of multitasking and the impact on reaction times—and provide more specific, logical explanations for each.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'The first and foremost is that' is grammatically incomplete, and 'In addition to this , mobile phones also not good for health' lacks a smooth transition. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'it' or 'this' without a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is also somewhat disjointed, particularly in the second body paragraph where the argument shifts abruptly from traffic jams to health and stress. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same terms, such as 'driving', 'mobile phones', and 'accidents'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'accident get happen' (should be 'accidents occur') and 'usage of electric devices' (which is overly broad). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cognitive impairment', 'reaction time', 'legislation', or 'enforcement'. Additionally, try to avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('recent reports indicates', 'driver... forget'), missing articles ('on red signal'), and awkward phrasing ('If driver use mobile phone while driving he / she not see their car will running'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage to improve your accuracy.
