Student answer (Band 6.5)

It has been argued that now a days several accidents are caused by using mobile phones while driving and that it strict action should be taken on the drivers doing so. In my opinion, I totally agree with this view becuase this results in accidents and the rist of getting critically injuries or death in certain cases. This essay will examine the reasons as to why I agree with this view.

One of the major reasons is using phones while driving causes road accidents. People use their phones while driving because they get exustaed after work and they feel the need t respond to the messages, browse on social media, make. important call or check notifications. They get so deeply engaged in thier phone that they get so distracted and it results in a horrific accident. To exemplify, Lots of students now a days are seen in accidents and majority of time the reason of the accident is distraction by phones or using music system in the car. Thus, using mobile phone can seriously reduce the concentration on driving which can results in an accident.

Another important reason is that using mobile phones while driving can lead to severe accidents or death as well as it can wreck the car completely. When drivers look at thier phones while driving their attention is diverted and they get so involved in thier phones that they dont understand that they driving thier car. Consequently, they may fail to notice the pedestrains also they might ignore the traffic signals and other card coming fron the other side which lead in collision. For instance, a driver who is busy texting someone on thier phone might not have full control on the vehicle and must not notice people and thier vehicles on the road and this causes accidents and the driver gets himself as well as others injured due to his fault. Therefore, using mobile phones while driving can cause life threatning injuries and in some cases death.

In conclusion, Using mobile phones can cause accidents which can lead in severe damage of the car as well as the driver and other passengers gets injured in it badly. Thereore, traffic department should take stringent action against such driver and impose big penalties on them so they dont repeat such actions in future while driving.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on distraction and the resulting safety risks. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; the second and third paragraphs cover very similar ground regarding accidents and injuries. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more distinct points, such as the legal implications or the psychological impact on victims, rather than restating the same consequences. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position and provides a clear recommendation for policy action.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the major reasons', 'Another important reason', and 'Consequently', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by minor errors in referencing (e.g., 'such driver' instead of 'such drivers'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the repetition of points between paragraphs slightly weakens the overall logical flow. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'stringent action', 'distracted', and 'collision'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'now a days' (nowadays), 'exustaed' (exhausted), 'thier' (their), and 'pedestrains' (pedestrians). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede overall communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to move beyond basic descriptive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the driver and other passengers gets injured') and missing articles or prepositions (e.g., 'lead in collision'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences ending abruptly or containing unnecessary full stops (e.g., 'make. important call'). While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammar rules will be beneficial.
