Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that mobile use should be completely prohibited and should be declared illegal while driving as it cause distraction leading to road accidents. I partially agree with this statement because driving is very focus oriented task and mobile devices cause huge distraction but, cellphones also plays an important role and are very useful in emergency situation. This can be resolved by adding voice recognition models in vehicles.
Driving is a very focus oriented task. A minor distraction can cost a person life or can cause lifetime injuries and using smartphones while driving take away that focus as person have to multitask at same time leading to accidents even for experienced individuals. For instance, A research by a traffic handling corporation in Japan shows that distraction due to smartphones is one of the top 3 reason of 90% of accident in Tokyo. Hence, neglecting the use of devices while driving can lead lower accident rate.
Banning mobile devices while driving can have negative impact as well. Nowadays, people are hugely dependent on mobile devices for there daily tasks. Not to mention in emergency situations, smartphone is the most convenient method to get help so disallowing individuals from using it while driving can cause harm. However, this issue can be simply resolved by adding an voice assistance in driving cars letting users control or operate features like calling and texting just by using their voice.
To conclude, banning smartphones while driving can be useful but in many situation it can deal more damage than any accident for individuals and by adding devices or feature that use voice as command to operate can be a best solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by presenting a clear position and supporting it with relevant arguments. You acknowledge the dangers of distraction while proposing a balanced solution involving technology. The ideas are generally well-developed, such as the mention of emergency situations and voice-recognition technology. However, the essay could be improved by providing more specific, real-world examples rather than general statements. The research mentioned regarding Japan is a good attempt at supporting evidence, but ensure your arguments remain focused on the 'extent' of your agreement throughout the essay to maintain a more consistent position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices like 'For instance', 'Hence', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. For example, the shift from the dangers of distraction to the benefits of mobile phones in the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this issue' which could be more explicitly linked to the previous point. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prohibited', 'multitask', and 'convenient'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'focus oriented task' (should be 'focus-oriented') and 'deal more damage' (should be 'cause more harm'). You also have some spelling errors, such as 'there' instead of 'their' and 'an voice' instead of 'a voice'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of academic collocations would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it cause distraction', 'cellphones also plays') and article usage ('a research', 'an voice'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing commas in complex sentences. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your arguments. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
