Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the use of mobile phones while driving is adverse many problems for people such as they distract from the driving and so one. to large extend I am agree to this trend. I will explain my viewpoints in upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, using of mobile phones while driving should be restricted from government as it causes the problems for a person. For example, they do not concentrate properly on driving while listen to the other person on phone. Hence, it can be the one of the reasons behind the road accidents.

Apart from this, most of the time they totally focus on the calls instead pf driving. Due to this, sometimes they break the traffic rules which impacts the bad.

Furthermore, Government should make some rule and regulation against using mobiles or attending call while driving. They should put some fine on people that are breaking the rules. and also, they can also people ban from the driving who are not follow the rules.

On the other hand, sometimes when they listen to their calls when they are driving it may be urgent. Or they may should be use headphones or hand free calls. Due to this, they can be safe from physical distraction.

To conclusion, I strongly agree to against the use of phones when they are driving, until it is very important. Government definitely should make the rules so that people can avoid this thing. Moreover, they should advertise or do seminars with that people can be aware of using cell phones while driving.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that mobile phone use causes accidents, the arguments remain quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on the consequences of distracted driving. For instance, you could discuss the impact on reaction times or the severity of accidents caused by texting. The conclusion is clear, but the overall structure of the argument could be more sophisticated to fully explore the 'extent' of your agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Apart from this', and 'Furthermore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'and so one' or 'impacts the bad'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transition between the body paragraphs and the counter-argument (the 'On the other hand' paragraph) is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'adverse many problems', 'listen to the other person', and 'do seminars with that people'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to driving and safety, and try to use more academic vocabulary instead of relying on basic, repetitive terms. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'using of mobile phones', 'they may should be use', and 'who are not follow the rules'. These errors in subject-verb agreement, modal verb usage, and sentence construction are noticeable throughout the text. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips would be very beneficial.
