Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding whether cell phone use by drivers should be made illegal, presenting a clear personal position agreeing with the ban. The writer attempts to explore both sides initially, noting arguments about when driving might seem less dangerous, before strongly supporting the prohibition of phones to prevent tragic accidents. Ideas are generally relevant, but the development is somewhat superficial and the reasoning is occasionally constrained by limited language expression. For instance, the discussion on unexpected hazards like 'one child run to the street' touches on valid safety concerns but lacks full elaboration. The overall response covers all parts of the task sufficiently to meet the requirements for Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into a series of very short paragraphs and single-sentence lines, which disrupts the natural flow and logical progression of ideas. Although there are some attempts at cohesive devices—such as 'While some people', 'For example', and 'In conclusion'—their use is frequently awkward, and punctuation errors around these markers impede smooth reading. Paragraphing is not used effectively to group related points together, as seen with isolated sentences like 'i will give the arguments of both sides before my own view.' Referencing is also sometimes unclear. This organisational structure corresponds to Band 4.5, rounded to Band 5.0 based on general progression attempts.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The lexical resource is very basic and contains numerous errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include 'Novadays' for nowadays, 'the using of phone's use', 'mining to forbidden', 'sand massage' for send messages, 'deedline' for fatalities or deaths, and 'consentrated' for concentrated. While the writer manages to communicate basic meanings related to driving distractions and safety regulations, the vocabulary range is limited and noticeable errors occur frequently, causing occasional difficulty for the reader and placing this aspect firmly at Band 4.5 to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside frequent faulty attempts at complex structures. There are persistent, major errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and tense usage throughout the essay. Examples of errors include 'its is not dangerous', 'wenn the road is not empty', 'Therefour', 'If the are risk', 'load music distrube', and 'I maked my driver licence'. Punctuation is particularly weak, with missing spaces after commas and periods. Because errors are very frequent and constantly strain meaning, the writing falls into the Band 4.0 category for grammar.
