Student answer (Band 4.0)
It is argued that using mobile phones while driving is the major reason leads to divert the driver's attention and cause numerous hence it should be penalised by the government. I personally agree with the statement and this essay intends why i hold this view.
Many incident happens as they are not aware with the use of cell phone while driving eventually deal with serious consequences especially while drive on the motorway. It causes the irrelevant discomfort on the road such as traffic congestion is the most common thing occur when driver completely indulge in conversation with someone while drive turns to major caos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length, containing only 191 words against the required 250-word minimum, which severely impacts the development of the task. While the writer attempts to present a clear position in the introduction ("I personally agree with the statement"), the ideas presented in the body paragraphs are poorly developed and remain largely unclear. For instance, the reference to incidents caused by drivers not being aware of cell phone use lacks adequate explanation or strong supporting evidence. The personal anecdote provided about a friend on a highway is truncated and incomplete, stopping abruptly mid-sentence ("If she followed the right pathway and we..."). Because the response falls well short of the word count and leaves arguments underdeveloped and incomplete, it aligns with the Band 4 descriptor for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks clear overall organisation and progression. The essay opens with a run-on and grammatically flawed introductory sentence ("It is argued that using mobile phones while driving is the major reason leads to...") that creates confusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the transition between ideas is abrupt and mechanical. Furthermore, the abrupt ending of the essay means there is no logical conclusion, disrupting the flow of the text. Referencing and cohesive devices are poorly managed; phrases like "I said so as I had a very weired experience" feel colloquial and inappropriate for an academic or formal task, failing to guide the reader smoothly through the arguments. Overall, the information and ideas are not arranged coherently, reflecting Band 4 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling to convey precise meaning. The student attempts less common phrases such as "traffic congestion" and "motorway," but these are undermined by frequent word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as "major reason leads to divert" and "causes the irrelevant discomfort." There are also spelling errors like "weired" instead of weird, and word form errors such as "friendas." The vocabulary is limited and sometimes strains the reader's understanding, which places it firmly within Band 4, as the range is restricted and errors in word choice are noticeable throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting largely of faulty complex sentences and poorly structured simple sentences. There is a persistent lack of control over basic grammar and punctuation; almost every sentence contains errors. Examples include run-on structures like "Many incident happens as they are not aware with the use of cell phone while driving eventually deal with serious consequences..." and tense/agreement issues such as "traffic congestion is the most common thing occur." The heavy frequency of errors frequently distorts meaning and causes severe difficulty for the reader, matching the profile for Band 4 where errors are frequent and pervasive.
