Student answer (Band 4.5)

Using a call phone while driving is dangerous it causes the driver to become distracted, call phone use by drivers should be madeillegle. i totally agree with this statement. Now adays people are useful to carry mobile in during drive even do they didnot bother to hold a second to call, its dangerous day by day because the accidents ressio is going to increase only because the too much uses of mobile during in drive.this is illegle and out of law we have strickly notice on this serious issue, but infourtuntly our goverment did not bother to make maintain this law by practic. Howover, mobile is also danger for our young genrations as you know excess of everything is bad so that excess use of mobile is also disturb our mental health or human behaviour as well so when drivers picks the calls during their working our or driving time their focus will be changed and disturb ,some that call will be from his home or something in emergency .sudenly he put the phone down with that bad news and accident will happends.this is the main reasion i did not recommend a mobile phone during drive espacialy for long rouit its shoul be banned. Forexample,if school trip is going to murree with many students or teachers and there parents are so worried about thire life and safety they always want to ensure the safety of their kids, its only possible when principle are bound to advice the driver for not use a mobile,at the other side if driver contineusly ingage with mobile during the whol drive ,mostly chances for mishappended or accidents. At the end of my discussions i suggues to the goverment must do somthing for phone uses by drivers should be made illegle, have to strickly notice for this raicing issue. To sum up law is mandorty for everyone, avoid to extra use of moble will be benefical if we can.small things can make big evolution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The candidate addresses the prompt directly by expressing a clear position of total agreement with the statement that using a cell phone while driving should be made illegal. Main ideas are presented, such as driver distraction, increased accidents, and negative effects on younger generations, supported by personal observations and an example regarding a school trip. However, the development of these ideas is limited and often disjointed, with some arguments remaining under-developed or unclear due to expression issues. For instance, the transition into the school trip example lacks clear contextual setup. Because all parts of the task are addressed and a clear position is maintained throughout, the performance aligns best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response features an overarching paragraph structure, but internal cohesion and referencing are frequently faulty and mechanical. Sentences are often run-on or incorrectly punctuated, leading to frequent comma splices (e.g., 'Using a call phone while driving is dangerous it causes the driver to become distracted'). Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes inaccurately applied, such as 'Howover' and 'Forexample'. Progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow due to abrupt shifts in thought and missing links between clauses. Overall organisation is visible, but the lack of accurate cohesive ties and clear referencing places this performance firmly at Band 4.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling errors that strain the reader throughout the text (e.g., 'illegle' for illegal, 'infourtuntly' for unfortunately, 'strickly' for strictly, 'rouit' for route, 'mishappended' for mishaps). The range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying simple ideas, but frequent word-choice and morphological errors (such as 'ressio' for ratio, 'raicing' for rising, 'mandorty' for mandatory) cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. Consequently, the lexical performance aligns closely with the Band 4.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but complex sentences are almost always faulty and contain severe grammatical errors. There is a persistent lack of control over basic sentence boundaries, resulting in run-on sentences and frequent fragments. Errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions are pervasive (e.g., 'people are useful to carry mobile in during drive', 'driver contineusly ingage with mobile'). Punctuation is largely inadequate or incorrect. Because errors are frequent and constantly disrupt meaning across the text, the grammar score reflects a Band 4.0 level.
