Student answer (Band 6.0)
Gadgets in modern day and age poses serious challenges if used unappropriately. Considering the fact that mobile phone usage while driving is severely dangerous and it is believed that phones should be banned while driving any motor vehicle. I partially agree to this statement and upcoming paragraphs will delve deeper into reflecting my views in detail, along with modern examples.
To commence, I certainly believe that distracted driving is one of the significant cause of accidents while driving and largely due to consumption of phone usage. There is no debate on the fact that using cell phone takes majority of attention which results in less to no focus on the road. Not to forget that banning phone while on road will plummet the daily car accidents by major chunk. For example, holding a mobile in one hand not only takes one crucial limb while driving also the drivers focus on the road.
In contrast to banning the cell phones completely I recommend finding long term solutions which not only fixes temptation to use phone but also keeps the driver engaged while driving. Moreover, technologically advancements are bringing accident avoiding features which are improving every single day. For example, many car manufacturers like tesla put cameras in their vehicle which alarms the driver even when they hold mobile device or not focused on road. Additionally, banning of cell phone will tempt people to find alternatives to avoid the evident.
To sum up, banning cell phone while driving bikes and bicycles is what I agree to but policy makers should focus on making car driving joyful without stopping people to carry phones, modern times have resulted in many alternatives and I believe a middle ground should be founded.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear partial stance that cell phone usage while driving should not be entirely banned, but rather that long-term technological solutions should be found. The position is maintained throughout the response, and relevant ideas are presented, such as the dangers of distracted driving versus the integration of safety features by manufacturers like Tesla. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from minor logic gaps, such as the claim that banning cell phones will 'tempt people to find alternatives to avoid the evident.' Despite these occasional underdeveloped arguments, the writer successfully covers the core task requirements and presents a coherent point of view, corresponding well to a Band 6.5 or 7.0 profile.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged logically with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, using phrases like 'To commence,' 'In contrast to,' and 'To sum up.' However, paragraphing and referencing occasionally feel a bit mechanical or strained, as seen in sentences that link clauses clumsily (e.g., 'Considering the fact that mobile phone usage while driving is severely dangerous and it is believed that phones should be banned... I partially agree'). Furthermore, referencing pronouns are sometimes imprecise, which slightly disrupts the flow of progression. Overall, the essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with adequate organizational structure, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'unappropriately' (though used incorrectly for 'inappropriately'), 'delve deeper,' 'plummet,' and 'technologically advancements.' There are several noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including 'poses serious challenges if used unappropriately,' 'significant cause of accidents,' and 'holding a mobile in one hand not only takes one crucial limb while driving also the drivers focus.' While these errors indicate a lack of precision, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's meaning without heavily impeding communication, placing this firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses. Examples of errors include 'Gadgets in modern day and age poses' (subject-verb agreement), 'unappropriately' (word form/spelling), 'one of the significant cause' (plural noun error), and 'takes one crucial limb while driving also the drivers focus' (awkward parallel structure and missing possessive apostrophe). Additionally, sentence fragments and run-on structures occur, such as the introductory sentence split incorrectly. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
