Student answer (Band 5.5)
These days numerous accidents occurs on road due to drivers are using mobiles while driving and using phone is a cognitive distraction. Hence, cell phone use by drivers should be made illcit. While i agree that using mobile phones driving dangerous, i believe that a total ban is not completely practical.
On the one hand, using a phone while driving is dangerous because of slow reaction as well as distraction. For example, one driver getting late from reach his work place. Then he is getting calls from his colleage and he is informing him like boss was shouting on him . so his mind distract from driving and it impaired reaction time can face accident. Consequently, fatal road accidents or collision. So, it should be banned but not completely.
On the contrary, a total ban is not always practical. For instance, drivers might need their phones to call for help if their phones to call for help if their car breaks down or they need use phones map to find directions when driving in new places. So, government should allow them to use new technolgy such as a using hands free bluetooth systems. so it can be safe while driving.
In conclusion, while using a phone can cause dangerous accidents, a complete ban is not realistic. Therefore, the government should allow safe phone use for maps and emergencies while punishing reckless driver. So, i parcially agree with this statement because both sides are valid.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response presents a clear position throughout, agreeing partially with the prompt. The main ideas are outlined, such as the dangers of cognitive distraction and the practical need for maps and emergencies. However, the development of ideas is limited by frequent under-developed examples, such as the convoluted anecdote about a driver being late and getting calls from a colleague. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met as the text contains only 244 words, which warrants a penalty under Task Achievement. Because the arguments lack full extension and the word count falls just short of the minimum, the criteria for a higher band are not fully satisfied, resulting in a score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is generally organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the transition from 'Then he is getting calls...' to 'so his mind distract...' uses repetitive and informal linking strategies. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response, but referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen with ambiguous pronoun usage ('it impaired reaction time can face accident'). Overall progression is discernible, but the clumsy mechanical transitions and awkward phrasing pull the coherence down to a band 5.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is adequate for the task, attempting some less common vocabulary such as 'cognitive distraction', 'reckless driver', and 'technolgy'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'occurs' instead of 'occur', 'illcit' instead of 'illicit', 'parcially' instead of 'partially', and awkward phrasing like 'getting late from reach his work place'. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent the score from reaching a band 6.0. The range is limited and contains errors that cause occasional difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive clauses ('While i agree that using mobile phones driving dangerous...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('drivers are using'), missing prepositions ('using mobile phones driving dangerous'), and faulty tense usage ('he getting calls'). Punctuation and capitalization are also flawed, notably with lowercase 'i' pronouns. These persistent errors in basic and complex structures place the essay firmly at a band 5.0.
