Student answer (Band 5.5)

It often discussed the cellular device should be made illegall for drivers. The usage of moble while driving is harmfull as it may chaneg the fouce of the person.I fully agree with this opinion because using device takes driver's focus away from the road and leads to a seviour traffic accident.

First of all, using a phone while driving can cause a major distractions as it requires complete concentration over the road, need quick actions and rapid decisions at the same time. For example, a motorist can be move very far away from their route, just by missing correct exit over the highway and in result that person can get late by reaching at the destination.

Secondly, most of the road accidents in today's era just met because of the usage of mobile device at the time of driving which can lead to the seviour injuries or to the death of the person as well. These crashes not just effect the drivers life in danger, but, many innocents also suffer because of this reason. Most of the time people not even look red signal or crossing pedesterians and run the vhicle in speed. Many countries has strict law and huge fine on usage of phone while driving, which is effective as well.

In conclusion, I completly agree that using of cell phone should made illigal while driving. The distracion is too far dangerous and protecting human life is much more important to in any case.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting a clear position agreeing that cell phone use while driving should be made illegal. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the dangers of distraction and the severity of accidents, supporting the stance. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full elaboration, such as the example about missing a highway exit, which remains brief. Furthermore, it is important to note that the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing only 245 words instead of the required 250 words. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure the word count requirement is fully met and extend all supporting arguments with deeper explanations and more comprehensive real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear central position maintained throughout. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, moving logically from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing distractions and accidents, followed by a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', to signal the progression of ideas. However, referencing and cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, and certain transitions lack smoothness. To achieve a higher band, the writer should utilize a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive links and ensure that referencing between sentences is consistently clear and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating central ideas about driving and safety. There are, however, noticeable lexical errors throughout the text, including spelling mistakes like 'illegall', 'moble', 'harmfull', 'fouce', 'seviour', 'effect', 'pedesterians', 'vhicle', 'has', 'completly', and 'distracion'. Word choice and word formation inaccuracies also appear, such as 'met because of' instead of 'caused by', and 'run the vhicle in speed'. These errors indicate a limited lexical range with frequent slips. To improve, the writer must focus on expanding vocabulary control, improving spelling accuracy, and selecting more precise collocations suited to formal academic or general writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and causative ideas, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors in sentence construction, verb forms, and articles, including 'It often discussed', 'chaneg the fouce', 'takes driver's focus', 'over the road', 'can be move', 'people not even look', and 'should made illigal'. These errors and awkward phrasings reflect a limited range where attempts at complex structures frequently lead to mistakes. To progress to a higher level, the writer needs to demonstrate better command of basic verb tenses, passive constructions, prepositions, and punctuation, producing a higher proportion of error-free sentences.
